Movie Reviews

Associated Press - 9/10 by David GermainAll but the faintest flashes of humanity and pathos are flattened by the cinematic cyclone that is Michael Bay.
Las Vegas Informer - 9/10 by Victoria AlexanderMichael Bay delivers a terrific, violent, funny heist movie. Wahlberg once again throws himself into the role without movie star ego. He's fabulous - as it seems - always. I learned a lot about bodybuilders.
Kansas City Star - 9/10 by Loey Lockerby"Pain & Gain" is good enough to be disappointing, which represents some kind of progress for Bay.
LarsenOnFilm - 9/10 by Josh LarsenI can't help but wonder if Pain & Gain is the reason Michael Bay was put on this earth.
Miami Herald - 9/10 by Rene RodriguezThis is easily Bay’s best movie, the work of a filmmaker with a cracked sense of humor that he is able to share with the audience.
New York Post - 9/10 by Kyle SmithA dizzying lowlife saga that’s fast, smart, wicked, sort of ambitious and blazingly ironic. It’s as unpredictable as a Lindsay Lohan drive to the grocery store, as overstuffed as the pictures on Anthony Weiner’s Twitter feed and as hilarious as me on the bench press.
Village Voice - 9/10 by Ciara LaVelleWhen the story runs off the rails and crashes headfirst into a too-perfect ending, it's because Bay was led astray by the same things that got the Sun Gym Gang into this mess in the first place: superficiality, ambition, and the belief that reality just isn't good enough.
New Yorker - 9/10 by Richard BrodyA brash, vulgar, exhilaratingly vigorous, spontaneously complex hoot of a true-crime movie.
HitFix - 9/10 by Drew McWeeny... loud and brutal and sometimes quite stupid, it is wildly funny even in its darkest moments, and by my calculations, that makes this a genuine, no apologies surprise from Bay.
Screen It! - 9/10 by Jim JudyI found that it couldn't pull off the high-wire balance act above its black comedy environs, with the distasteful 'comedization' of the grisly true story only adding insult to injury. (Complete Content Details for Parents also available)
