Washington PostPaul AttanasioFor such a low-budget movie, Nightmare on Elm Street is extraordinarily polished. The script is consistently witty, the camera work (by cinematographer Jacques Haitkin) crisp and expressive.
Ozus' World Movie ReviewsDennis SchwartzA sobering overwrought drama based on Marsha Norman's Pulitzer Prize-winning play.
User ReviewApril MSpacek & Bancroft both give powerful performances as a mother and daughter struggling with every day life. One of them wants to commit suicide and the other has to convince them not to. Awesome flick about life.
User ReviewDave BAmazing movie, and a true study of dialogue.
User ReviewMario PThis movie Anne Bancroft and Sissy Spacek did a great job , Sissy Spacek scared me in this movie
User ReviewLeonardo - Malacay - SQue gran película, recae en los hombres de dos soberbias actuaciones, todos sabemos que va a pasar pero aun así no se puede perder el hilo de la conversación, cada detalle en apariencia insignificante construye esta obra.
User ReviewSteve DThe acting was great, it was a very heartfelt movie.

User ReviewJoey PNot too many movies move me like this one did. Both actresses did a perfect job in their roles. It was so simple yet so deep, and it made me want to cry at the end.
User ReviewMichael LThis is a wonderfully-done adaptation of a play. Sissy Spacek is a middle-aged woman suffering from epilepsy, and Anne Bancroft is her older mother, who live together but hardly know each other. Sissy's Jesse has decided that she's tired of life and has prepared everything but her mother for her departure. The film follows Jesse and her mother as they discuss what will happen after the shot is fired. For anyone who has ever lost a friend or loved one to suicide, this film may be difficult to watch. For those brave enough to watch it, you'll find yourself very disturbed, and wondering why you feel sorry for the wrong person. But she isn't.
