Movie Reviews

Chicago Reader - 7/10 by Dave KehrThe subject of this Ingmar Bergman film is repression, but everything is dismayingly on the surface.
The Spectator - 7/10 by Peter AckroydThe film is very restrained, rather cool, and with an unabashed fluency of direction which prevents it from becoming enmired in the stickier reaches of the Scandinavian soul.
Spirituality and Practice - 4/10 by Frederic and Mary Ann BrussatFrom the Life of the Marionettes zeroes in on one troubled marriage and the ambiguities of human sexuality.

User Review - 10/10 by Tutti DBergman mindfucks you again, and you keep coming back for more - some of the dialogues in 'Marionettes' are memorably, and deliciously, depressing

User Review - 10/10 by Dimitris ROut of accident, I watched this bluddy great movie of Bergman and I was shocked. Firstly, because it isn't as famous as some of his previous works, secondly because the psychological study of self is for the first time so open and audience-friendly and thirdly, because this is one of the smartest movies that the cinema produced in the 80s.. Excellent!
