Movie Reviews

Rolling Stone - 10/10 by Peter TraversUndeniably thrilling and troubling...Dazzling, era-defining.
Cinematter - 10/10 by Madeleine WilliamsFuturistic film noir mystery with excellent performances and thrilling cinematography.
Jam! Movies - 10/10 by Bruce KirklandThe early promise of the film gives way to exploitation; satire mutates into drivel.
Chicago Sun-Times - 10/10 by Roger EbertThis is the first movie about virtual reality to deal in a challenging way with the implications of the technology. It's fascinating the way Bigelow is able to suggest so much of VR's impact (and dangers) within a movie - a form of VR that's a century old.
Boston Globe - 9/10 by Jay CarrFrom the visceral plunges of the first person mind clip sequences (including a terrifying, controversy courting rape sequence) to the overwhelming finale this is a, literally, stunning event. Some directors can, thank God, still make you experience films.
ReelViews - 9/10 by James BerardinelliStrange Days is a thriller first and a mystery second. It's big, explosive entertainment and, although not directed by Cameron, is very much in the vein we've come to expect from him. Strange Days may not be the best movie to hit screens during the Fall, but it's likely to be the brashest.
Filmcritic.com - 9/10 by Christopher NullThe end result is an interesting little film that's just, well, 'strange.'
ViewLondon - 9/10 by Matthew TurnerEngaging, genuinely thrilling sci-fi. Enough to make you wish Bigelow made a movie a year.
Ozus' World Movie Reviews - 9/10 by Dennis SchwartzMessy, dreary and repulsive slick near future sci-fi/film noir thriller that both dazzles and is bombastic.
Combustible Celluloid - 9/10 by Jeffrey M. Anderson[Bigelow] with the help of her talented cast, constantly wrestles against the script, and for a great deal of time, she appears to be winning.
