Monthly Film BulletinMFB CriticsBryan Forbes, directing for the first time, reveals a painstaking, often incisive talent for behaviour rather than a marked personal style.
Ozus' World Movie ReviewsDennis SchwartzMy only amazement is that the melodrama didn't turn mawkish.
Not Coming to a Theater Near YouMichael NordineThough admittedly simple, Whistle Down the Wind leaves much to ponder.
User ReviewPJ POne of my alltime Favourites! Black & white, filmed in Yorkshire in '50s.Must've been released on dvd in 2003-hope they didn't"colourize" it! Hayley Mills is about 12yo(or 13?) not "little" Kathy, who stumbles in the dark over a leg, Says"Wh-who are you?" Alan Bates is so startled to be woken & says in relief when he sees it's only a young girl, "Jesus Christ!"
User ReviewKay CLOVE this movie, but I lived not nfar from the place it was filmed and was a little younger than Hayley Mills. Don't be misled byt the 2003 date. That was when it came onot DVD. It is in fact a 60's black and white film from Lancashire England and they have VERY broad accents. Love it!! A bit of nostalgia!!
User ReviewSophie Done of the great British films. this film shows how 3 young children can be mislead and how their trust in people can be turned. a great British masterpiece

User ReviewHeather WFrom 'Jesus in our baaarn' to 'Spider' the kitten, the whole film is so cute. From the days when kids were innocent even when the adults wern't.
