Ozus' World Movie ReviewsDennis SchwartzThe all-star international cast goes overboard in keeping things zany but not necessarily funny.
Observer (UK)Eric RhodeDonner, the director, appears to have had next to no control over the proceedings; it looks as though he was enjoying the fun so much that he didn't much bother to direct.
Chicago ReaderDon DrukerClive Donner's stylish direction harmonizes well with Woody Allen's inspired screenplay to yield an elegant entertainment, proving once again that Allen is a better scenarist than a director.
EmanuelLevy.ComEmanuel LevyBetter scripted (by Woody Allen) than dirceted (by Clive Donner), this psychiatrist farce is intermittently funny; too bad that the role Allen wrote for himself instead went to Peter Sellers who's over the top.
Blu-ray.comBrian OrndorfOffers a few bursts of insanity worth paying attention to, but as a farce, it never finds its footing, missing a golden opportunity to make iconic mischief with a trio of determined leading men.
VarietyVariety StaffIt goes overboard in pressing for its goal and consequently suffers from over-contrived treatment.
New York TimesBosley CrowtherSomewhere in the proceedings there were sane and skillful artisans at work.
Reel Film ReviewsDavid NusairThe movie's almost excessively thin storyline, however, becomes more and more of a hindrance as time progresses...
User ReviewJose Pvery silly but wonderfully so ... so many repeatable quotes ... i watch it when i'm down in the dumps & need to laugh!
User ReviewNicholas SOne of my favourites. It's completely bizarre - and just when you think it's got to come back from the brink...it doesn't. "Silence! Silence when you are shouting at me!!" screams Sellers at his valkyrie wife. Peter O'Toole is a glorious specimen and a delight to watch. Woody Allen is bearably un-neurotic in this and believable as a backwards romantic lead. I'm going to run out to my go cart and get a copy....NOW!
