Arizona Daily StarPhil VillarrealStewart, who was nominated for five best actor Oscars -- his one win was for "The Philadelphia Story" (1940) -- turns in perhaps his most impressive feat.
EmanuelLevy.ComEmanuel LevyNot one of Billy Wilder's strong features, this biopic of the ace flyer is too conventional, lacking the helmer's more characteristic humor, irony, cynicism.
Chicago ReaderJonathan RosenbaumNot one of Billy Wilder's best efforts -- still has some interest because of James Stewart's performance, which is very nearly a one-man show.
Time OutDerek AdamsIt's quite engrossing, with the period trappings lovingly presented.
Movie MetropolisJohn J. PuccioLindbergh's biggest dilemma on the flight was trying to stay awake. To a large extent, it's ours, too.

User ReviewStevie SThis is another powerfu true story and Jimmy Steward did an amazing job in this movie. it's something everyone will love.
User ReviewCharles AJimmy Stewart in a classic role, making the inner struggles of Lindburgh as relavent as the machine's.
User ReviewAshley HThe Spirit of St. Louis is an amazing film. It is about Charles Lindbergh who struggles to finance and design an airplane that will make his New York to Paris flight the first solo transatlantic crossing. James Stewart and Murray Hamilton give excellent performances. The screenplay is well written. Billy Wilder did a great job directing this movie. I enjoyed watching this motion picture because of the adventure and drama. The Spirit of St. Louis is a must see.
User ReviewJohn WLoved it! Lots of cheesy moments by today's standards, but that's what's so great about these flicks from the Golden Age of Hollywood . . . hard to believe that it was a flop at the box office. :)
