Slant Magazine - 6/10 by Fernando F. CroceNo less than other noir classics, The Dark Corner is full of sadistic bits of business.

User Review - 8/10 by megAn excellent movie, on of my favourite's, however my favourite film noir is Laura.
User Review - 8/10 by David BSatisfying noir with Lucille Ball. From the creative team that made the classic "Laura."
User Review - 8/10 by DanyelleI brought this movie for Lucille Ball, and I was amazed that she pulled off a film noir role. I wish she would have done more films like it.
User Review - 8/10 by Theresa JChris got me intrested in film noir, and this is one of my favorites so far. Dective with a shady past, woman that loves him anyway and a great mystery. What more could you want. Lucy before she was silly. Awesome.
User Review - 8/10 by Ilsa L"The Dark Corner" is a film noir that starts off as any other, but slowly turns into a piece of art that just happens to be a thriller. What in 1946 was a standard suspenser, today is the epitome of noir, dressed to the nines with hard-boiled lines, a private dick as its main character, and a sort-of messed up whodunit as its plot-line. It's no "The Big Sleep", and if you want to compare it with other Fox noirs such as "Laura" or "Kiss of Death" forget it-- but standing alone, "The Dark Corner" is great. Bradford Galt (Mark Stevens) is a PI with a bad past that teams up with his beautiful, witty secretary Kathleen (Lucille Ball) in an attempt to figure out why his ex-partner Tony Jardine (Kurt Krueger) has hired a goon to follow him around. As we dive deeper into the story, we find out that Jardine is having a steamy affair with the vampy Mari Cathcart (Cathy Downs), who is married to much older art-collector, Hardy Cathcart (Clifton Webb), and that Jardine is apparently setting Galt up for another fall. While everything seems a bit simple, it only gets more twisted as a handful of murders occur. "The Dark Corner" doesn't disappoint. Henry Hathaway is a terrific film noir director (he directed one of the only superb color noirs, that being the 1953 Marilyn Monroe vehicle, "Niagara"), having an eye for gritty realism while painting a world full of double-cross and deceit. The shadows exist with ease and the violence is brutal, with gorgeous women at every corner. The screenplay is filled to the brim with lines that are reminiscent of Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett. It's the noir lovers dream, through and through. The great cast, though more full of film noir legends instead of A-list stars, doesn't disappoint. Mark Stevens, though fourth-billed (even as the main character!), is by far the most compelling character. Even if he isn't quite as old as Humphrey Bogart or Dick Powell, as they won the world over with their cool as ice detective personas, he is just as tough-as-nails; the scene in which he lights a match with his shoe says it all. Lucille Ball, top-billed, strays far from her "Lucy" performance, even making us wonder how much her character in "I Love Lucy" is made up. She's one of the most memorable love interests in film noir, considering she's bitingly funny, and is headstrong rather than passive. This may have been the beginning of the world falling in love with her, and it's not a moment too soon. Webb is once again reliable as the two-faced villain, Downs is sexy as the femme fatale, and William Bendix once again works really well as a thug. "The Dark Corner" is a hidden gem of a treat. It's film noir at its finest, and features talent across the board. I loved every second of it.
