Leave your thoughts about State of the Union.
PatheosEve TushnetIt's a pleasure to watch because of the talent on display-and, this is me so let's be real, because its climactic scene is about the joys of public self-abasement.
Slant MagazineDan CallahanThe shock of State of the Union, Capra's last movie in a political vein, is its technical sloppiness.
User ReviewAlegra SThis is my new favorite movie of all time. Not well known, although it REALLY REALLY should be!

User ReviewScott RA personal favorite. Directed by Frank ("It's A Wonderful Life") Capra & starring the Tracy/Hepburn team along with a very young Angela Lansbury. If you get the chance, watch this movie which was made 65 years ago and compare Grant Matthews' speeches to the ones you heard during the 2012 Presidential campaigns..
User ReviewSylvester EI'll make it real short and simple. If you haven't seen this wonderful film, you don't know what your missing. It's just that good....
User ReviewDenise HShould be required viewing by every American of voting age before EACH election and primary. Excellent performances by Hepburn and Tracy that show the double-dealing, conniving realm of politics. All the "special" interest groups jockeying for power and control...and the voice of one man (and woman) struggling for honesty and integrity in the midst of it all.
User ReviewCyrus FWhat a perfect film. Maybe not as funny as their regular pairings, but still, a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful movie.
User ReviewJeffery TThis 1948 production of a contemporary play about corruption in politics could be re-played in 2007/8 as a metaphor for the current Presidential race - how little has changed. A thinking person's Sunday afternoon movie, well acted by Tracy, Hepburn and Lansbury.
User ReviewPrivate UWe watched Desk Set a couple of weeks ago, and were disappointed at the lack of real fizz there between Tracey and Hepburn - but, thank goodness, there's much more of it here. And the script buzzes along: for all the differences in politics, this plays like a crib-sheet for Aaron Sorkin.
