Ozus' World Movie ReviewsDennis SchwartzThe film's money shot is the well-staged fight between Zale and Rocky.
VarietyVariety StaffPaul Newman's talent is large and flexible, revealing an approach to the Graziano character that scores tremendously.
EmanuelLevy.ComEmanuel LevyRobert Wise's sports biopic of Rocky Graziano deservedly catapulted Paul Newman to major stardom; you can spot in small parts Steve McQueen, before he became a star, and Sal Mineo.
User ReviewStephen (Steve) HThis film is classic brilliance at it's best, a young boxer makes world champ in the end. A real knockout story of a champion.
User ReviewRocky SOne of the best movies I have ever seen, but one of the main reason I love this film, my mother also loved this movie & named me after it. Heheheh THANX MUM :-)
User ReviewAnna LI think I have a new favorite Paul Newman performance.
User ReviewConner RA flawless movie on all accounts, it's one of the best boxing movies to ever be made. Its longstanding reputation is well warranted and I feel like it should be praised even more. Paul Newman is both charming and determined, he plays a character that has truly had nothing to his name since he was born and been treated as though he is worthless and stupid. It's so powerful and inspiring when he turns his whole life around and gets everything he goes for. The visual style of this is downright scary, there is not one shot that doesn't look hand crafted and meticulously planned out. Robert Wise created a film that is both a great piece of entertainment and an unforgettable piece of cinema.
User ReviewMichaela RStory of boxing great Rocky Graziano, well acted and from what I know, pretty close to the mark.
User ReviewLindsay GI really liked Paul Newman in this role. It's a movie you don't hear about too often, but it really is a good one.
