User ReviewJames HRather fascinating "B" classic from 1937 "exposing" a prostitution ring. There are some curious comic relief segments. The acting is better than most of these small expose films from the era. It moved along quickly and I always remained interested.
User ReviewKeenan SSlaves In Bondage is basically about prostitution, and it reminds me a lot of the film Escort Girls which had a similar premise, though both are similar in quality. While the film is incompetently made and cheesy, like Escort Girls, it has enough cheesy moments to keep it afloat. If you enjoy visiting forgotten curiosities, Slaves In Bondage is worth watching because of how bizarre it is.
User ReviewRichard DA woman is kidnapped for the purposes of prostitution, but escapes. She identifies one of the men who kidnapped her, but his bosses kill him before the police can nab him. Meanwhile, a young unemployed reporter is covering the story trying to get a job with the local paper. His fiance works for a nail salon that is actually a cover for the prostitution ring. She is abducted by them. The exploitation flick masquerades as an expose of the white slavery rackets, but is really an excuse to put women in their underwear on screen doing things like tickling and spanking each other. The problem is that there's really not enough of that. What there is a lot of is mediocre actors reading dull dialogue and extremely awkwardly staged action scenes. It's a pretty short film that feels very very long.
