Boxoffice MagazineSusan GreenThis sad but intriguing premise wanes in a mish-mash of attempted Russian accents and clumsy storytelling.
User ReviewRock YA fantastic movie about the sacrifices one man would make for his family. You will laugh, cry and feel good throughout the movie. The last 20 minutes were very depressing though. Good job HBO!
User ReviewPrivate Udisturbing - but humorous and thought provoking..
User ReviewNichole NVery lovely movie.I really want to see it again. That man would stop at nothing to save his family even if it means having to risk his own life.I didn't want tohe two men to die it was really unfortunate that they died leaving their families n all.
User ReviewAdam CThis movie is just another hidden gem from HBO. It is a little slow to start, but this is probably the darkest comedy ( and funniest in a twisted way) that you will ever see. Paddy Considine plays the lead in a character that you can tell would normally be an awkward nerd, but forced by extreme circumstances to do what he must to save his family.
User ReviewJulia MWonderfull movie, all the characters had great dynamics...its very eye opening, the information the main character gives out...I really urge everyone to watch this...
User ReviewLynn BReally great movie, and despite the title, you do not have to be a nuclear physicist to watch it!
User ReviewHilary HIncredible blend of philosophy, desperation, and manipulation with a tasteful bit of slapstick to periodically lift the mood. It's brilliantly done and layered as an onion. I highly recommend this one!
User ReviewVadim SBorn Ultimatum was called the intelligent thriller then swept under the rug for Oscar season. PU-239 gets an HBO release and when its picked up for DVD distribution it gets rented three times over a the past month at my video store. I took it home to watch so I could maybe put it up for employee recommendation tomorrow - maybe help my boss move the product a little. But holy shit. Scott Z. Burns is probably the most under appreciated filmmaker in Hollywood today. Not to say that he's not getting the work he deserves I mean he's writing and directing his own movies for gods sake, but I'm saying his message is probably the most profound and unpretentious we've got around today, it's like he's the modern day Paul Schrader. For the sake of art go watch this movie.
User ReviewMatt Mnot watched it yet, but I know its going to be good
