Every relationship has an expiration date. Every relationship needs its fantasies...some more real than others... A violent death of a relative brings Wit and his wife, Dang, back to Bangkok from America, where they own a Thai restaurant, for the first time in 7 years. As soon as they arrive in Bangkok at 5.30 am. Wit and Dang check into a five-star hotel downtown. Wit finds out that he is out of cigarettes once they are inside the room. He goes down to the lobby bar. After getting his pack of cigarette from the bartender Wit decides to order a cup of coffee and smoke his cigarette there. The girl from the table in the dark corner comes to Wit to ask if she could borrow his lighter. Wit hands her his lighter. Then she asks if she could borrow one cigarette too. The girl sits down and lights up one of his cigarettes and they somehow strike up a conversation. Wit learns that her name is PLOY. This is how our little tale of love and jealousy begins. A highly detailed psychological drama with three strangers locked inside one hotel room. It starts with subtle suspicions and builds up to hilarious jealousy, as the appearance of the young woman triggers the couple to suddenly realize how they had grown apart in their seven-year marriage, before reaching a devastating climax. In the final act, the couple is faced with the choice of going separate ways or turns around and embraces each other for a new beginning.

User Review - 10/10 by Jonas SAnother piece of beauty from Pen-Ek Ratanaruang. A deeply psychological drama about relationships. Slow pace and plenty of time to think about what you see. The characters are not on a rush either. They are sorting their minds... or maybe just having a nap and dreaming? It's not always clear so leave it for your own imagination and perception.
User Review - 10/10 by Mee Sukanya CWoW, Pen-Ek's flims always, always are amazing!!! It's beatifully made and beautifully written =)
User Review - 10/10 by Fatih ADeconstructively treating reality and fantasy, "Ploy" tricks its audience through its deceptive cinematic form. There are few stable referents by which an objective viewpoint may be established and rarely, if ever, do we know when the dream ends and reality begins. Quite often, the audience views characters only through some medium--in a reflection on a mirror, through a pane of glass with reflections on it. The characters are certainly complex, but in a film playing with and upon appearances, perhaps some simplicity remains. This is a film about illicit relationships, sexual transgression, and the redemptive powers of love.
User Review - 10/10 by Jennifer SLovely visuals and I loved how majority of the story took place in the hotel. Possibly better than Last Life in the Universe. I especially loved the actress who played Ploy. I hope to see her in other films or shows.
User Review - 8/10 by Chertsak VA very subtle lost in translation with less style and more substance. Great score too.
User Review - 8/10 by Frédéric F"On s'ennuie la plupart du temps. On est juste trop occupé pour s'en rendre compte."
User Review - 8/10 by Stephen FPen-Ek Ratanaruang's PLOY is the movie David Lynch might have made if he hadn't squandered his talent on the â??reference the beginning at the endâ?? school of surrealism. This dreamy, lethargic, pleasant trip of a film is a long and graceful swerve across lines of perception, fantasy, dreams, and reality -- and it is, thankfully, more entertaining than it is confusing. Though it is confusing! In a good way. I did take off a point when it abruptly turned into an action flick, but I added it back when I realized it was another in a broad range of unexpected tangents.
User Review - 8/10 by Be Sit's one of the movies of Pen-Ek that I can nderstand..
User Review - 8/10 by Jan S"Every relationship has an expiration date. Every relationship needs its fantasies...some more real than others..." I stumbled upon this movie on crunchyroll, read what the watchers say about it and the reactions are mixed. The reason why I still chose to watch it is because of Ananda Everingham's sex scene in the movie. While watching the story unfold, surprisingly, I became interested in the whole film, not just in a single sex scene. Haha! It's a psychological drama about the effects of jealousy in the behavior of the people involved. As the story progresses, you'll see the changes in the behavior of the couple, how they brought back issues from the past and evaluate the current state of their relationship. It's a nice film for movie enthusiasts. It's not really for watchers who want so much dialogue in a film.
