Movie Reviews

Denver Post - 10/10 by Michael BoothKramer vs. Kramer is definitely a movie to watch together -- your kids may well seek shelter under your arm, glad to know their own families enjoy more peace.
The Globe and Mail (Toronto) - 10/10 by Jay ScottKramer vs. Kramer is, essentially, a television movie that was raised into the feature category by the excellence of the execution.
Chicago Sun-Times - 10/10 by Roger EbertKramer vs. Kramer is a movie of good performances, and it had to be, because the performances can't rest on conventional melodrama.
Washington Post - 10/10 by Gary ArnoldA triumph of partisan pathos, a celebration of father-son bonding that astutely succeeds were tearjerkers like "The Champ" so mawkishly failed.
Cleveland Press - 9/10 by Tony MastroianniIt takes familiar people, familiar situations and then treats them with a mixture of intelligence and art rarely combined on the screen.
Spirituality and Practice - 9/10 by Frederic and Mary Ann BrussatOffers a revealing look at child custody battles in the courtroom. It's a dirty business and everybody is hurt in the process.
New York Times - 9/10 by Vincent CanbyKramer vs. Kramer is densely packed with such beautifully observed detail. It is also superbly acted by its supporting cast, including Jane Alexander, Howard Duff and George Coe.
People Magazine - 8/10 by Ralph NovakThere is so seldom even one great performance in a movie that three is too much to expect. For that reason alone, this story of a couple battling for custody of their young son is a remarkable achievement.
Los Angeles Times - 8/10 by Peter RainerIt's an interesting movie to look back on for its attitudes: In the guise of being a consciousness-raiser it plumps for male tenderness and demonizes the mother who can't recognize how far her workaholic ex-hubbie has come.
Kansas City Kansan - 8/10 by Steve CrumMore controversial in 1979 than now, but still has some gut pucnhes.
