Nevertheless the Roman war machine rolls on, so war must be engaged, however again in their, female-shaped way.

User ReviewZohar EThe characters names are just so funny. Dwyfuc - Exquisitely beautiful, irresistible to men, spoilt rotten and with the appetite of a horse! Smirgut - Magnificently strong, she towers over men and then beats them into unconsciousness with a large club! And finally, Worthaboutapig - the youngest, plainest, and undoubtedly dumbest of them all!

User ReviewAlice KI don't understand why this film has no reviews. Where is everyone? This is a very funny, slightly sardonic take on feminism and equality in Roman Britain. It's not deep, it's probably not politically acceptable in the 21st Century, but it does have a female lead (outcast princess) character called Worth-about-a-Pig. Who makes good and becomes happy. Which is what every woman I know experiences when they watch it. Very funny.
User ReviewRailton BU ve got to admire this for what it is. A satirictric( if that word exists) slant on events past and characters present. And done superbly I was hyserical at some of the accent scenes( the goth/german before he's about to behead the ladies) ceasor, the scots etc. And serious(plus good scenery) enough in parts to make u care about the characters.
User ReviewWilliam MA funny British flick about female gladiators. Well, not totally but rather female warriors of Celtic descent who take on the Roman army as they plan their invasion of Britain. The character of Worthaboutapig was cute and was funny in how she accepted life. And the ending was cute too in its humour. Overall, a funny movie with a few stereotypes likely but still humourous. If you like British comedy, you should like this film.
User ReviewAnna NFor a movie I had no idea what it was about, it is actually pretty good. Its stupidly funny.
User ReviewJouni MThe girls from smack the pony deliver in this film...:D
User ReviewDitte JItI had expected something else, but damn it's funny
User ReviewBen WThe title Gladiatress is a huge mis-nomer - there are no gladiatresses in this film, and the comparison to Gladiator does the film no favours - It is a comedy and not a drama after all. That said, the three Smack The Pony girls are the stars of the film and carry it off pretty well. Its a gentle comedy, with some understated visual and spoken gags - the names of the main characters Dwyfuc, Worthaboutapig etc are worth a smile, but not really made enough of. There are some interesting supporting roles from such as Mark Benton and Ronan Vibert, and even more amazingly no turn from Kevin Eldon ;) If you liked Smack the Pony, Chelmsford 1,2,3 or perhaps Monty Python and the Holy Grail, you may well enjoy this film. Its not brilliant, but it is British humour, and has done pretty well to create a relatively accurate looking film with a low budget. Some of the jokes are funny, some pass you by if you aren't giving it huge attention, but its certainly a fairly enjoyable way to pass an hour and a half if you haven't got anything better to do.
