Two soldiers stationed in Kazahkstan (Captain Duke Hauser and his partner "Ripcord") are ordered to transport special warheads created by MARS, an arms' manufacturer controlled by James McCullen. When they are attacked by thieves (led by Anastasia DeCobray, with whom Duke has history), they are saved by a top secret, international special forces unit known as "G.I. Joe". The leader of G.I. Joe, General Abernathy (or Hawk) is on the trail of the thieves: an evil organization called "Cobra". While Duke and Ripcord train to join the Joes, McCullen ("Destro") is secretly working for Cobra and plotting to recapture his metal-eating "Nanomite" warheads. Duke and Ripcord (with help from Heavy Duty, Snake Eyes, and the rest of the Joes) must prove that they are Real American Heroes -- by stopping the launch of these warheads before Cobra uses them to take over the world.

CHUDDevin FaraciIf I was 10 years old, GI Joe would be one of the best movies I had ever seen. As a grown up it's one of the better summer movies; a delightfully light, fun and action-packed kick in the ass.
One Guy's OpinionFrank SwietekPractically a compendium of everything that's wrong with Hollywood action flicks nowadays--a non-stop orgy of cheesy, chaotic CGI effects unencumbered by any human dimension.
Mania.comRob VauxIts pointless noise remains devoid of energy or fun, going from merely stupid August mayhem to a colossal waste of time.
AV ClubTasha RobinsonThe Rise Of Cobra holds to a thrill-ride sensibility that’s unchallenging and more than a little goofy, but exciting and consistently well-managed.
Zaki's CornerZaki HasanMoves at a brisk enough pace to keep its rampant stupidity merely annoying rather than actively offensive.
sbs.com.auSimon FosterAs is usually the case, the seething bad guys make for far more "interesting" onscreen characters than the heroes.
Entertainment WeeklyChris NashawatyDon't go expecting an escapist night at the movies; go expecting to be cudgeled into numb, drooling submission.
MovieCrypt.comKevin A. RansonDare I say it? Not only is G.I Joe a just apology by Steven Sommers for Van Helsing, it's also a reminder why Michael Bay's Transformers franchise is so forgettable.
