FILMINK (Australia)John NoonanGlossy, noisy and a little bit dull, Get the Girl is the kind of the film you'd thought they'd stopped making
Film Journal InternationalFrank LoveceRidiculous dark-comedy thriller [...] tries to subvert rom-com clichés. Instead it just subverts good moviemaking.
Film InquirySean K. CuretonGet the Girl never moves far beyond the shallow waters of post-modern deconstruction.
RogerEbert.comBrian TallericoIt’s an alternately quirky and intense flick that never quite lives up to its potential, but contains a twist or two you’re unlikely to see coming, and could appeal to viewers who miss the days of unpretentious B-movie glory that Orion once symbolized.
Village VoiceCraig D. LindseyBy the time the final half-hour rolls around, the film descends into twist-ridden, ridiculous madness. It becomes as messy and unattractive as the blood and brain matter that gets scattered throughout.
Los Angeles TimesMichael RechtshaffenA staged kidnapping isn’t the only thing that goes from botched to worse where the tone-deaf black comedy-thriller Get the Girl is concerned.
User ReviewTheresa HThis film is a fun adventurous examination of what a boy in love is willing to do to get the attention of a love interest.
User ReviewDavid BI rarely concern myself with the sexuality of characters in film, I think nine times out of ten a romance hinders more than it helps, but with Get the Girl I'd like to float you the idea of how drastically the script would be changed if the lead was gay. Keep everything else the same, but change is sexuality and you have (in my opinion) a much more enjoyable film. Obviously, that is not the case, so instead my takeaway from Get the Girl is two simple facts, the first was some new information, and the second was just confirming something I already knew: 1) There is a person on this Earth by the name of Jerry Purpdrank, and 2) Adi Shankar is a weird fuckin' dude.
