Leave your thoughts about That Man from Rio.
RogerEbert.comMatt Zoller SeitzWe don't think of Belmondo as an action star per se, but that's what he is here, smirking like Steve McQueen and managing to keep a cigarette clamped between his lips even when he's navigating hairpin turns on a motorbike.
Chicago TribuneMichael PhillipsIt's fun, in an imperialist, colonialist, patronizing, exotic-marginalized-foreigners way.
Under the RadarAustin TrunickUnlike the smooth-operating 007, Belmondo's That Man From Rio hero is a clumsy, bumbling, and ultimately charming dope.
Salon.comAndrew O'HehirThe fun feels forced almost all the way through "That Man From Rio," at least until the pure action and Belmondo's athleticism take over.
Film InquiryTynan YanagaThat Man In Rio has faults but that does not mean for a moment we cannot still get something out of it, even if it's, at the very least, some unadulterated thrills.
User ReviewTom hIncredible pre-James Bond flick, amazing that Belmondo did all of his own stunt work. What a concept of chasing your kidnapped girlfriend halfway across the world to save her. This is a classic and a must see.
User ReviewLinda MLighthearted and whimsical farce from an era of innocence, features beautiful Francoise Dorleac (sister of Catherine Deneve) and Jean-Paul Belmondo in his best comic role. The world is a beautiful and happy place in this spoof of machismo and daring-do.
User ReviewTrevor HThis film feels like a french North by Northwest, but dripping with style. Belmondo at his prime, with Françoise Dorléac (recently before her death).. always just gorgeous. Simply one of the best 60's french films ever!
User ReviewByron Bi love this film, its definatly in the top five ever. Jean Paul Belmondo IS cool, he's funny, slick enough and in the wrong places at the right time. It's a prefect example of 60's cinema, they could make a fun movie back then. It has the style of Bond movies and the non-stop adventure of Indiana Jones, i've read that Speilberg used it as one of his models for" Raiders of the Lost Ark."
