New TimesLuke Y. ThompsonA weird double-bill in itself: Part one's a crime drama, part two vampire splatter flick. It's an awkward pairing, but there's fun to be had.
Montreal Film JournalKevin N. LaforestYou got to admire how Rodriguez balances elements of action, comedy, horror, thriller, road movie and Western in the same film!
rec.arts.movies.reviewsDragan AntulovThis film is 'exploitation' in more than one sense of the word.
Arizona Daily StarPhil VillarrealLike a Cheesecake Blizzard: It's a pulpy mess loaded with empty calories, but it's so divine that once you start, you can't help but shovel it into your mouth until the last drop, brain freeze and diet be damned.
Combustible CelluloidJeffrey M. AndersonThis is a B-movie, albeit a largish budget B-movie, but with an undeniable B-movie spirit.
Film ScoutsLeslie RigoulotFor those with a twisted sense of humor, it is entertaining.
Austin ChronicleMarc SavlovThis is horror with a wink and a nod to drive-in theatres and sweaty back seats. This is how it's done.
ReelViewsJames BerardinelliIt's great fun, but certainly not great art.
Suite101.comNick RogersStill sizzles like a capsaicin-spiked grindhouse meatloaf baked and served just under the wire of its sell-by date.
Entertainment WeeklyOwen GleibermanImagine two movies...The first is a moody thriller about two brothers who pull off a bank job, take a family hostage, and head for Mexico. The second is a garish horror freak-out. The deranged hook of From Dusk Till Dawn is that it starts out as the first movie and turns, on a dime, into the second.
