The sky is literally falling in this thriller as one of the nation's leading astronomers, Madison Kelsey believes she is tracking a huge rogue asteroid rocketing toward earth. However, she can't get anyone in authority to take her seriously because the mysterious asteroid exists only in the mathematical calculations of her computer program and it's not yet visible. With only hours remaining until probable impact, Madison enlists the aid of discredited former Air-Force Colonel, Richard Donovan. Together they hatch a plan to resurrect a mothballed military laser in order to blast the asteroid out of the sky before it destroys the planet. The only problem with their plan, the laser is under guard in the middle of an Air Force base and the guards have orders to shoot to kill.

User ReviewJulian GDeadly Skies is a pretty decent disaster flick from the Sci-Fi channel about an asteroid on a collision course with earth. The military have developed a laser with the capabilities of blowing up the asteroid; sadly they refuse to believe that the asteroid will actually hit the earth. Cue a couple of scientists and a couple of discharged soldiers to break into the military complex that holds the laser and to save the day. Usually the problems with these films are the awful acting and special effects, thankfully the acting from most of the cast is quite good and there are limited special effects. The plot moves along at a good pace and is never boring, the break into the military compound is entertaining but admittedly the slight sense of believability goes completely out the window at the end. If you don't sit there and try to pick holes in the plot then Force of Impact is an entertaining little romp that's a good way to waste 90 minutes on a Sunday.
User ReviewTommy ROk movie about a group of scientists who find out that there is a meteor going to hit Earth in one day. They hunt down a former Army Lt. who worked on a laser beam that could destroy the meteor. Only problem is he was kicked out of the military for being gay.

User ReviewAlexander MIt was ok, but I got oversaturated on asteroid-hitting-the-earth-annihilating-all-life movies after seeing "Meteor" and Sci-Fi Channel"s Asteroids" this past weekend. Meteror, although not great, is the best of them all. But "Force of Impact" is worth a look. Antonio Sabato, Jr. and Michael Boisvert are both gorgeous! Rae Dawn Chong actually does a great job of acting! Michael Moriarty overplays the crooked, corrupt general trying to keep the news of a doomsday asteroid a secret. The movie doesn't have much creativity when it comes to ordinary citizens giving Pentagon-based spies the slip, or breaking into a high-security military base. If it was that easy, wouldn't everybody be doing it?
User ReviewStephen FAntonio is great eye candy and not much else. Not a good movie, but Michael Boisvert and Dom Zamprogna steal the show as Antonio's right hands.
User ReviewBrian PAre people paid to make flicks this cheap?? Cheap, cheesey, and cliched. The script is something I could've come up when I was a toddler, and the acting is somewhere out of the bottom of the bargain bin. I could go on for a while, but I think you get the idea. Some elements that give it the extra star include: some ok music, so-so props, and some acceptable camera work. None of those do much however to elevate this one out of the 'good coffee coaster' catagory.
User ReviewPrivate UHUGE asteroid hides behind TINY asteroid and is about to KILL EARTH! Not sure how this hiding trick works but this is HIGH-SCIENCE so they obv know than me! Also - no one believes her! Why! WHHHYYYYY!!!!!! Her and pal have a pizza delivered which they didn't order - OH NO! But it's ok - some ex-army dude wants to help and he has built a big laser. They need to attack the army base which is manned by 4 drunk soldiers but holds a weapon of unimaginable destructive power! They do this by making a bus break down! Not before army man initiates a discussion on ethics and also a big scene about "YOU AINT TAKING ANY GUNS!!!!". "Ok" says army man eventually - after much arguing. He will only take tranquilisers. "Ace!" says she. "BUT!! I'll take real guns 'just in case'!" he adds. "Ok" says she - rendering the whole 'discussion' ENTIRELY POINTLESS. Anyway - seen it twice now and it's just lovely.
User ReviewIan EVery ordinary movie with a used plot done often before. Cliche ridden but is helped by the presence of Rae Dawn Chong. Fair special effects, but not much else.
User ReviewTony LOh god! Low budget, bad effects! Don't watch!
