User ReviewJ.B. RPitch-perfect Ozploitation film from the master BTS coming on the heels of his kid's classic BMX Bandits. This film has everything: post-apocalyptic landscape, cars, tits, great action sequences, and a punk rock ethos. The acting is solid (especially a great turn by Peter Whitford as the drive-in owner). Like Romero, Trenchard-Smith always finds a way to layer smart sociopolitical commentary into his entertainment and this film is a perfect example. A true masterpiece of Australian new-wave film-making.
User ReviewTom DThe price of admission is the rest of your life.
User ReviewAddison DVery underrated 80's Post-apocalyptic drive-in prison. Creative to a high point. They just don't make movies like this anymore. If you've never seen will make your day memorable. 5/5
User ReviewShaun BFREAK FREAKING YEAAAAHHHHHH!!!!! Good Action, Good Music = GOOD MOVIE!!! (some dorky Mad Max movie that's awesome!)
User ReviewZaar DThis wasn't all that scary like i thought it would be, but it was pretty kick ass n the stunts were great!
User ReviewErik Hincredibly entertaining and weird. the most gentle/passive dystopian world i've ever seen in a film like this. no one even really behaves all that much like a human. and all of that shit made me love it.
User ReviewGrayson WA wild mix of different elements. The film comes to us from the land down under, but is an ultra-80's apocalyptic film (so 80's it hurts, but imo that's a good thing). It's wildly weird fun. It's a very different kind of film. Ned Manning puts on a great performance as our lead and Peter Whitford, Wilbur Wilde and Dave Gibson do memorably great jobs as well as supporting characters. A wild ride if there ever was one, I would highly recommend this film if you have a taste for the bizarre and insane.
User ReviewAlex GLike any great B-movie, it has its basic problems but overcomes them by speaking about so much with so very little. It is a unique sci-fi film that uses it bizarre story to reflect on humanity and mankind's willingness to settle rather than strive for more. It is fun, wacky, and most importantly something so very different than the norm. I loved the fuck out of this film.
User ReviewLiam Amy favourite aussie film, great 80's exploitation film where in an alternate 80's Sydney the unemployed are lured into the Star Drive In with a cheap ticket price and little do they know, once they are in they can never leave! this doesnt bother the lot of the people living in the drive-in but it does bother Crabs (yes thats his nickname! lol) and all he wants to do is get out! must see aussie film! 9/10
User ReviewJack GA neon-post-apocalyptic movie! It does get a bit preachy mid-way through with some unnecessary commentary on Aussie-Immigrant Asian relations, but mostly it's just a fun exploitation flick that is VERY 80's, full of nice big tits, fun car chases and crashes, random fires, and did I mention 80's!! The ending is fuckin bad-ass as well. A fitting tribute to the drive-in movie experience, so to speak.
