But Marine Lieutenant Henry Dolan, an aide to Colonel Butler, tricks Jimmy into going to the San Diego Marine Base to tell his father he plans to resign his commission. But Colonel Butler is on temporary duty on a Philippine island in the pursuit of a gun-running gang of smugglers. Which, through more trickery by Dolan, is where the newly-commissioned Lt. Jimmy Dolan ends up.
