User ReviewBoB Mchildren killing and eating adults what more could you want !
User ReviewPrivate UPretty bad, but has a great child killing sequence at the end... the kids were evil.
User ReviewAltered EThe writers saw fit to needlessly shoehorn a Beowulf allegory into the story, confusing the audience instead of accentuating any parallels (there are none by the way). However, it's worth the wait to slog through the first 80 minutes of footage; the body count soars ridiculously high in the final 5 minutes.
User ReviewTeddy LThis movie is hilariously gory and fun. Great cheese ball horror flick.
User ReviewConnor AYou can really only critique Troma films to a certain extent; their nature, their essence of being is being a shitty, distasteful gorefest. However. Children at Play grows more interesting as it builds up, and acts as a total subversion of our moral standards.
User ReviewTillie SSo horrible it's good! Chessy to the max acting, lifeless diaolog, stock video game music, and highschool production value make this take on a Beowulf like tale a cult classic for sure!!!
User ReviewWilliam Sabsolutely fucking nonsense....and hilarious for alllllllll the wrong reasons, all i can say is its a movie about cannibal children. thats all you need to know. now if you can deal with the terrible dialogue and some random as fuck moments and make it to the last 5 minutes you going to be in for a completely unnecessary finale....and the highlight of the movie.
User Reviewjustin wbasically, a kid whose dad was a literary professor, becomes a cannibal and forms a cannibalistic cult in the woods after grendel from the story 'beowulf'. it's got absolutely terrible acting...and a bunch of murderous children. there was a lot of controversy surrounding this film 'cause of the ending. it's an ending that'll likely offend a good chunk of folks. but anyway, it's a good flick to pull out and make fun of with friends...and that three-legged dog that appears in the film is awesome.
User ReviewDan WThe acting was horrible aside from a couple adult actors. The acting and choreography from the kids was a waste. The only reason why I gave this movie a 4-rating and nothing lower was because of the ending. Without it, the film would really be nothing. A wasted ripoff of Children of the Corn. Don't bother with this film, but if you do want to check it out, fast foward to the end of the film.
User ReviewChad FIt's not often you come across movies that are this embarrassingly bad. During the first act, you feel as if you are uncomfortably watching a snuff film from another universe or something. It's just hard to believe there are this many people who would TRY to act in a film like this. It's like an entire neighborhood community got together and agreed to make a movie about their kids turning into cannibals and the battle between them. If it weren't for the unbelievably poorly executed finale, which consists of all of the children's parents "brutally" murdering them, the movie wouldn't be worth owning for ANYONE. And the finale is only so sweet because it's so bad it's hilarious!!! A true gem of Z movies... i guess.
