The year is 50 B.C. Caesar is hungry for new conquests. At the head of his glorious legions he decides to invade the island that lies at the very edge of the known world, that mysterious land known as Britain. Victory is swift and total. Or - almost. One single tiny village manages to resist, but its forces are growing weaker so Corddlia, Queen of the Britons, decides to send her most faithful officer Jolitorax to seek aid in Gaul, in another small village famed for its dogged resistance to the Romans. At the village in question, Astérix and Obélix already have their hands full. Their chief has entrusted them with the task of making a man of Goudurix, his young pain in the ass nephew recently arrived from Lutèce. And their task is far from accomplished. When Jolitorax arrives to ask for help, the Gauls decide to give him a barrel of their famous magic potion. Astérix and Obélix will accompany him back to Britain - as will Goudurix. After all, the voyage seems to offer an excellent opportunity for completing the young man's education. Unfortunately, nothing ever goes quite to plan.

User ReviewRazvan DSaw it last night. A fun, engaging and ocasionally satirizing movie that doesn't fail to impress through it's design and make-up, making it, once again, look like a cartoon come to life. The film has a little too many subplots which it tries to start and end quickly to fit in the circa 120 minutes. Fans of Spielberg's Flintstones or other Asterix and Obelix movies should not miss this.
User ReviewNikola MAs it borrows the best elements from the beloved comics this movie makes for a fun and cartoonish film but doesn't make it memorable.
User ReviewSteL PValerie Lemerecier, Gerard Depardieu & Fabrice Lucchini are so talented ! The story is quite simple, not very elaborated. Edouard Baer is an excellent choice for Asterix, eventhough he portrayed the Scrib in #2 (#2 movie remains the best of all 4, too bad non French speaking cannot understand all the jokes!). Beloved Britains will certainly find it provocative and reductive but it is a parody! Chill out ! And it's not entirely false.
User ReviewDave CA very silly and cheesy, but fun rehash of the old comic book. Worth seeing if you're in the mood for some Roman bashing.
User ReviewLucien BCe film m'a surpris en me faisant rire plusieurs fois.
User ReviewPedro BBefore watching the movie, I had a lot of fears. New studio, countless delays, only Depardieu reprised his role as Obelix, fourth in the live-action series, etc. Some of them had come true. However, it's better than what I was expecting. Not a whole lot, but better. It has a lot of problems, the story is sometimes drawling, and has some unnecessary things (like mixing it with a different Asterix comic), but if you get over the first half hour, it will become enjoyable. Still, it's nowhere near as good as the previous ones.
