User ReviewJed D"Another dose of syfy, with a side of awesome!" Creature feature's delight.
User ReviewRonald GThis is a fantastic tale of a brave Wyvern protecting her unborn children from human terrorists. Those unborn Wyvern babies didn't do anything to anybody. They were innocents!!! I can not wait for Wyvern 2: Revenge of the Orphaned Wyvern Babies. Those 5 remaining people living in Beaver Mills are going to pay for their sins.
User ReviewVinny Mi really liked it actually. cheesy but good
User ReviewAndrew MThis TV Movie Directed By Steven R. Monroe (I Spit On Your Grave 1&2), Is Great Entertainment, And Shows That A Small Budget Can Go Far In Making A Moderately Average & Entertaining Film. The Plot Is Ridiculous But Is Played Out To Maximum Effect, Shove A Decent Cast Working Below Their Best & A Mythical Flying Creature And You Have One Of The Better Creature Features, That Creates A Believable Although Unlikely Situation.
User ReviewKollin CPretty Good For A SyFy Original, Decent Effects, Decent Acting.
User ReviewGary NNot great and not bad, but perfectly watchable.
User ReviewRoland SSurprisingly not bad for a made for TV B-movie (which isn't saying much, I know).
User ReviewKym (c my community profile) ROk this was Reign of fire light.. at least in a little nice town in Alaska. It was made for tv so I?m guessing a sci-fi channel move but oddly enough it didn?t piss me off like most of them do. (I usually change the station or fall asleep) The Dragon (er Wyvern in it looks quite good. A differently shaped head than most dragons you see but it at least looked like a dragon (compared with some of the other CRAP that has been shown as one in sci-fi channel movies. I could draw a better dragon if you maybe give me a day!! & some pictures to look at & I can?t draw for my life) one of the older gentleman in the movie mentioned a folktale that the Wyvern basically was imprisoned by Odin the Norse God of Valhalla. That when he & hi father would be fishing you could hear ?The howl of the ice Glaciers falling? & his dad would say ?that?s the Wyvern escaping?. Ah well being basically a daytime non ash version of Reign of Fire I?ll give it a C
User ReviewJason DWyvern is another chapter in the endless stream of Sy-Fy channel original films, not to mention part of the Maneater series, about a mythological dragon known as the Wyvern that has broken free from its prison within the ice glaciers near Alaska where parts of the area is going through its daylight solstice (i.e. no darkness whatsoever). The dragon takes up residency in a small town and starts eating up people gradually then rapidly until only a small group of people are left, including lead actor Nick Chinlund (glad to see him get a lead role for once; he's a decent actor), the late Don S. Davis (who contributed many roles to the horror/sci-fi genre; I'll miss him), Barry Corbin (another great actor whose been in stuff like Dead & Buried, Critters 2, and No Country For Old Men), and some others. Before the Wyvern eats all of them up and hatches its newborn babies from eggs, this group of survivors must try and stop it. Though it's hit or miss on Sy-Fy Channel films, the Maneater series has gradually (and I use that world ever so delicately) gotten better with each release. Wyvern manages to be a fun and effective monster movie, with better than average CGI, decent actors, decent storyline, and some decent gore effects. The direction from Steven R. Monroe was good as well, especially since his films are right down the middle in terms of hit (It Waits, Left in Darkness) and miss (Sasquatch Mountain, Ogre). I was a bit disappointed to see secondary actress Tinsel Korey displayed on the front cover of the films poster as though she were the lead in the film. This must've been a cheap tactic from the film company since she has a throw away role in the next queer Twilight movie. Other than that, the film was a small surprise and managed to be much more entertaining than I had anticipated. Good film.
User ReviewNathan NSurprisingly watchable Sci-Fi (or is that now Sy Fy) Channel monster-of-the-week movie in which a small American town is besieged by a recently thawed out flying reptile. Dumb instead of stupid, the movie mostly raises itself above the usual dreck, thanks to decent performances from the cast (led by reliable character actor Nick Chinlund) and a cunning and reasonably well rendered creature, though the usual b-movie cliches still abound.
