| User ReviewTristan PBack in the late 80s/ early 90s, my family used to rent movies from a place called Flicks 'n' Things, which had a HUGE horror section. One of the video box covers that always stood out to me was WOLFMAN (not the same cover shown here; it was a huge close-up of the werewolf's face with big, blood-dripping letters spelling out the title) but I couldn't convince my mom to let me watch it (I was 8 years old, after all...) Finally, when Flicks 'n' Things closed four years later, they were selling off some of their more obscure tapes and I was thrilled to see WOLFMAN for sale! I bought it on the spot, took it home and watched it that night. And, boy, was it awful... This was before I was really aware of the concept of "independent" movies, so I simply couldn't understand why everything about the film seemed so cheap. Everything about it was just... bad, from the acting to the script to the werewolf transformation effects. The 12 year-old me counted WOLFMAN as one of the three or four worst horror films I had ever seen. And although WOLFMAN has long since been surpassed by literally dozens of much worse films, I still have a special place in my heart for this awful film it took me years to see. If it ever comes out on DVD, I may just have to buy it, although I doubt I'll ever WATCH it again... |
