User Reviewkhalid mReally good movie. Shyam Benegal stays within the narrative structure of mainstream Bollywood cinema but manages to explore completely fresh situations and provide new insights into the human condition. Also captures the ethos of eastern UP very well - reminds me of my Banaras days.
User ReviewTim MNo cheap jokes or actors doing stupid things to make audience laugh like in a lot of so called comedy movies, but will definitely make you feel good!!
User ReviewAiyush BIn my opinion, bahuth hi acchi movie hai.Shreyas Talpade is awesome.
User ReviewPuru PA funny movie with horrible songs. The movie describes the poor county life, and also deals with some serious issues. It has a nice balance of both humour and seriousness.
User ReviewAisha Sexcellent, surprising portrayal of village life in all its complexities and issues. shreyas talpade is a gem.
User ReviewSwati SIt was refreshing to see an original script/story in a desi film in such a long time. Really liked it:)
User ReviewNeeti GDefinitely a Benegal. Anyone who knows the hindi heartland knows how many of these skeins are lived day in and day out in each sleepy hamlet. Of course the end brought out phillum-style conclusions, but am glad I saw it... rajaram and democracy-themed songs notwithstanding!
User ReviewMandeep Sthe total outlook of the movie seems like its from two decades ago. The language and the characterisation is convincing. Amrita Rao, Ila Arun and Shreyas performs finely. Ila Arun deserves special mention.
User ReviewChandrahasa RHilarious! I couldn't stop laughing! No doubt the songs were totally out of place, but ila Arun was so so sweet! Shanishchari kukkur acted really well :P Oh and the cow's wedding! man.. that stole the cake Shreyas : "kaa likhein?" Amrita ; "Likho.. ihaan sab raaji khusi haye! tumhaar kutta puttaru bhi theek hai. Gaaye byaahi hai. bahut Dooch dewat hai.... tum hote... to peete!" Bwahahahaaaa!!!
User ReviewNiral GVery simple plot with a lot of important, yet subtle, messages. The movie continued at a decent pace and never really got boring. I admit there was not much of a main plot, but I don't think that was the point of the movie. The movie was a depiction of town life and traditional thought. Shreyas Talpade acted really well as always.
