Searching for the lost world of Atlantis, Prof. Aitken, his son Charles and Greg Collinson are betrayed by the crew of their expedition's ship, attracted by the fabulous treasures of Atlantis. The diving bell destroyed, a deep sea monster attacks the boat. They are all dragged to the bottom of the sea where they meet the inhabitants of the lost continent, an advance alien race makes slaves of the ship-wrecked sailors. The aliens want to rule the human world to create a nazi state. Due to his high IQ, they think that Charles may join them. Greg and the team will need the help of Delphine, the daughter of a slave, to escape the city surrounded by evil creatures...

This movie has it all: Tons of cool monsters, fun storyline, iconic "B" movie cast, exciting action, excellent adventure, and probably the best special effects out of all these old Doug McClure monsterfests. This one was always my favorite, so of course its the only one not available on DVD. A pity. Someone should start a petition or something. this long lost gem of a movie deserves some treatment.

The film was the fourth action-fantasy collaboration between Kevin Connor and Doug McClure. The first three were made by Amicus Productions who had then wound up so this movie was made at different studio. A large amount of footage was shot on the island of Gozo. Box Office The film was the 15th most successful movie in the UK in 1978 Novelization The novelisation by Paul Victor was published in 1978, as a tie-in to the film, by Futura Publications Limited. Told entirely from the point of view of Greg Collinson, it follows the movie more or less faithfully. Notable changes, however, include the addition of a fourth crew member, Chuck, and the attack by flying fish - which in the film occurs as the surface-dwellers are escaping across the causeway - happens much earlier during their approach to Vaar. Warlords of Atlantis is a 1978 British science fiction/fantasy film about a trip to the lost world of Atlantis. The movie was directed by Kevin Connor from a screen play by Brian Hayles. It was filmed in color with monaural sound and English dialogue, and runs for 96 minutes. Warlords of Atlantis received a Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) rating of PG. It was novelised by Paul Victor. The film has also been released under the title Warlords of the Deep. User Review - 10/10 by Jonathan BDoug McClure, monsters and Cyd Charisse....pass the popcorn! 11/11/10 I loved these Doug McClure 1970s monster movies as a kid and I still think they are great. In this one, Cyd Charisse and her fellow Martians flee a dying planet in a giant, hollow asteroid which sploshes down in the Bermuda Triangle and becomes the basis of the legend of Atlantis. This undersea kingdom is discovered by Peter Gilmore and Doug McClure as Edwardian adventurers when their diving bell is attacked by a long extinct glove puppet. What unfolds is a frantic battle to free the human slaves, defeat the machinations of the aliens, fend off a menagerie of rubber monsters and try to avoid being turned into a fish or made to wear a silly wig. Scripted by Brian Hayles who wrote some classic Doctor Who stories of the 60s and 70s, this is a real Boys Own Adventure as is totally engaging and charming with some nice ideas and set pieces. True, the effects date it and can't compete with more modern movies but for swash and buckle you have to go a long way to beat it.
