Ozus' World Movie ReviewsDennis SchwartzA forgettable but entertaining lightweight routine action film.
Under the RadarAustin TrunickImagine Road House, but on a smaller budget and more country-fried.
Creative LoafingMatt BrunsonConsidering its eye-catching cast and a workable premise, this ranks as a real disappointment, with writer-director George Armitage content to churn out drive-in yahoo fare rather than craft anything with any sort of staying power.
User ReviewRobert IVintage Grindhouse. Throw realism out the door. A town besiege by rising anarchy reaches out to the Seven Samurai to protect them. Instead, they end up taking over the town. A rare film where the Vietnam vets are the villains... And it works. However, the film takes a few jumps too many and the music is so campy, it's kind of hard to sit through without openly mocking it. I wanted something a little more bad@$$.
User ReviewBill BThis film is one of those cases of the cure being worse than the disease, as a Vietnam vet and some of his cronies are brought into a small town to help stave off the rowdy assholes that the local oil companies have brought into the area, but he and his buddies turn out to be equally ruinous to the community. I enjoyed this one, a gritty action drama from the late '70s that I happened to catch on our MGM HD channel. Give it a look, it's well worth a rental.
User ReviewRoy SKris Kristofferson is a bad actor, but he is the best one in this movie. Still, it is effective as a Corman 70s drive-in flick. And as a cultural artifact it is fascinating. Vietnam vets are crazed and evil, and are literally transformed into redcoats fighting civilian Green Mountain Boys on the Fourth of July. Amazing.
User ReviewJerry C(1976 Director: George Armitage) "Charlie" of Charlie's Angels stars in this late 1970's drama about violence taking over a small town and how a few of its inhabitants fight back!
User ReviewAlex SA lot of fighting, killing and explosions happens. Not an actual plot or interesting characters, just all the above shit. I can see why Kris Kristofferson even disliked this film, he made better choices 20 odd years later with the likes of Blade.
User ReviewJohn MSeriously bizarro, WTF '70's action movie! It starts out with a group of ex-soldiers being brought in to tame a wild town. Where it goes from there is just nuts! At least you don't see the plot twist coming, that's for sure! Kris Kristofferson is in this for whatever reason, but does well with where his character goes. Jan-Michael Vincent is good in his pretty-much standard action mode. The movie is made competently enough, just makes you wonder how it was greenlit!
