User ReviewOrlok WPeter Sellers is supreme in this film but the supporting cast of British stalwarts is excellent too. It is a film I return to again and again and it never fails to improve my mood.
User ReviewPrivate USimple storyline, but really funny. If you like Porridge you will enjoy this. Peter Sellers is fantastic again.
User ReviewMatthew SGenious from start to finish. British comedy doesn't get any better than this.
User ReviewAdam BSellers Perfection. Usually on Channel 4 in the afternoon, an excellently acted farce.
User ReviewChris SOne of my favourite movies of all time; classic Peter Sellers, superb performances all round and a genuinely entertaining Ealing Comedy.
User ReviewSteven PEarly Peter Sellers movie. Like Hogan's Heros in prison.
User ReviewSimon RThis film is genius. A bunch of inmates in a prison that is run somewhat like a hotel are persuaded to pull off an outside heist by Wilfred Hyde-White. The perfect alibi. Unfortunately a new prison officer arrives, in the form of the brilliant Lionel Jeffries, who is not only horrified by the cushy set up but has really got it in for Peter Sellers and his gang. Sellers in his prime before he became, dare I say it, somewhat pretentious.
User ReviewPaul DGood British 60's comedy with a top drawer cast. Sellers is good but Hyde White is the star of the show as a bunch of con men plan a jewel heist whilst on the inside and try to get back before anyone notices. Lionel Jeffries as the Prison Guard also puts in a memorable performance
