User ReviewJoe Kyou romantics out there don't want to miss this one..have the tissues handy at the end. Story based on a novel about love between children who rekindle feelings in adulthood - an Israeli soldier and a Arab Palestinian teacher. A wonderful story beautifully photographed and well-acted.
User ReviewGregory WA story of forbidden love, ala Romeo and Juliet, told in the context of the Arab-Israeli conflict. Call it West Bank Story, even though the action takes place in Gaza. (Poetic license.) Childhood friends are reunited as young adults and love blossoms. Heartbreaking story, with the austere beauty of the Israeli countryside as a backdrop. However the dialog seemed stilted and the story held few surprises. One wonders how peace can ever come between people who hate each other so much that honor comes before love and family ties and where the simplest choice is dictated by a society that cannot accept outsiders. Adrian Pasdar, as Ben, is adequate, but Cecilia Peck, as Laila, stands out as the ethereal beauty who enchants him. Hard to watch mainly because one knows it cannot end well. One only wishes for a little bit more polish in the production.
User ReviewNoor AIts hard to force a woman 2 chose her husband or her daughter to stay alive while the other will be killed
User ReviewWiebke KI could not finish this movie -- while well meaning, the acting was just terrible
