Chicago TribuneMichael PhillipsThe movie failed to find much of an audience in its own time. It looks a little better every year.
New York TimesA.H. WeilerDespite an involved plot and an occasional overabundance of palaver, not all of which is bright, this yarn about a cash-hungry dame who doesn't let men or conscience stand in her way, is an adult and generally suspenseful adventure.
Ozus' World Movie ReviewsDennis SchwartzThe husky-voiced winsome smiling Lizabeth Scott turns in a finely tuned performance as the femme fatale.

User ReviewPavandeep SWoman getting one-upped is like the most awesome theme in any noir film. Personally, watching this, I now have a secret attraction for Byron Haskin. This is his second film I've watched and it was sweet. I love the acting and the lines the most, it makes you want to laugh amid the chaos and tragedy and troubles.
User Reviewbill sMorality is easy in the absence of temptation. Some people never steal or cheat on a spouse simply because they wouldn't know how. But what if very suddenly (and accidentally) you fall into possession of a kidnapping or blackmail payoff --- and nobody knows? Lizabeth Scott simply excels in her role here. Her natural ability to come on to a man -- naturally -- sweetly -- using her entire persona but without being obvious, she has more ability to manipulate than most of us could deal with.TOO LATE FOR TEARS has it all: Murder, treachery, backstabbing, double-crossing, booze drinking, poison, and cigarette smoking --- all smoothly kept under control by a strong director and script. See it.
User ReviewMichael HA great lost noir with a completely mercenary leading lady, twist after twist after twist as identities and motives are unpeeled, and (almost) every character constantly looking to find their footing and gain some advantage as the story plays out. This film is a treasure restored to us by the Film Noir Foundation.
User ReviewDavid HAn exciting, thrilling tale of money, crime, and marriage. I really liked this movie.
User ReviewStephen Lgood film noir with two greats, Lizabeth Scott and Dangerous Dan Darea
User ReviewMark DLove this movie! This is Lizbeth Scott's very, very bad girl picture. Comparable to "Born to Be Bad", "Double Indemnity" and similar film noir movies. A must see for film noir fans, and it has recently been restored. The restored version was shown at the 2015 TCM Film Festival, and is scheduled to be aired on TCM in July 2015.
