Full Plot Details

In the waiting room of an international well-known doctor expert in treatments for TOC ("Trastorno Obsesivo Compulsivo"; Spanish for "Obsesive Compulsive Disorder" or OCD) meet some people who by a malfunction of a new computer program have been dated the same day at the same time. In the group are the next: Emilio, a taxi driver expert in astronomical mathematical calculation who too is affected of Diogenes Syndrome (hoarder disorder); Blanca, a lab worker who suffers of mysophobia, an extreme panic to all virus and bacteria; Ana María, a prayerful religious with disorder of verification; Otto, a young guy with obsession by symmetry unable to step the cracks in the pavement lines; Lili, a nice young girl and gym coach who is affected at the same time by palilalia (unintentional repetition of quotes, words and syllables said by oneself) and echolalia (unintentional repetition of quotes, words and syllables said by other person); and finally Federico, a mature aspiring lawyer affected by Tourette Syndrome, forcing him unwittingly to say all kind of profanities and making obscene gestures. After a tense first contact between them, it increases when Tiffany, Dr. Palomero's receptionist, reports them that the airplane of the doctor delays from London. It causes that Federico suggests to the others share their different OCDs in the hope to find a cure, starting a series of events each time more crazy.

The dialogues are filled with mannerisms we can see in people outside the screen, witch brings a down to earth look to the film, thought it's circunstancies aren't that ordinary. The art and symmetry in the set reflects its raw tematic and that connection is portrayed nicely.

User Review - 6/10 by Jesse OOCD is an interesting disorder to say the least, because it covers a wide variety of things. OCD isn't just limited to one specific behavior. I think that, given the nature of how human beings are, there's one thing that everyone is obsessive about. There's obvious scales to that, naturally, given that some people are able to control their OCD tendencies, but there are others where their tendencies take over their life. Like Blanca, the germophobe, who's letting her obsession completely take over. Or Ana Maria, whose insistence on going back to her home to make sure she closed the window, turned off the stove, didn't leave the water off, etc, etc, etc, again, takes over her life and prohibits her from being social with her friends Again, I find that it's something that we all have, whether it's mild or extreme. I had a couple. When I was in school, I used to subscribe to three different gaming magazines (EGM, Game Informer and GamePro for those curious). I used to bring these magazines to school for my close friends, who were also gamers, to read. One of the rules I had, however, was that they be as gentle as possible with the pages. This was only a problem I had every time the new issues came in the mail. Once that issue was old news, you could crumple all the pages you wanted. But, while it was still new, you couldn't even sneeze on it. Same thing with the books that I had. In fact, I stopped reading World War Z, the first time I started to read it, because the crumpled pages distracted me. That's how bad it was at my worst. There are also times, and this is a quirk one of the characters here shares with me, where I can't step on the lines on the sidewalk. Not that I'm afraid of the lines or shit, but I just can't. It happens even to this day. It's nothing extreme, it's not like I always go out of my way to avoid the lines. But when I notice, I avoid those lines like a motherfucker. Having said that, let's move on with this, shall we??? I think it should be said that, honestly, I felt like the movie was probably gonna end up going down the path of pretty much making fun of everyone's manias for laughs. And, naturally, you can say that they did use the manias to poke fun at these characters. For example, Federico's Tourette's is used mightily. As is Blanca's obsession with cleanliness. Same with Otto's refusal to step on lines. In short, everyone's manias are used for laughs here. But, if I can also be fair, there's movies that are far more mean-spirited with its approach to these types of manias than this movie. I don't wanna say that it's sensitive, because it isn't, but you're not meant to laugh at these people or pity them for having these manias, you're just finding that there are certain aspects of their quirks are comical. The movie's narrative is simple enough, the group, when their doctor's flight is delayed, get to know each other better and, eventually, end up helping each other attempt to get over their manias. So, in a way, I don't wanna say the movie is about acceptance, but it's about the hope that maybe these people will, through their friendship with one another, find some sort of calm where they don't have to worry so much about what's wrong with them. Obviously, you can't have a film like this without a strong cast and, realistically speaking, they are the best part of the movie. I found the scripting to be good, but the cast takes that script to another level. Perhaps that's overstating the point, since I thought that this was only a good movie, but they are so fucking good together that it's not even funny. I don't know how extensive the rehearsals were for this movie, which is based on a 2005 play, but this cast performed together like a well-oiled machine. I think it also helps that, and this is something that I've always believed, that Spaniard comedic actors are some of the best with their timing and their delivery. And that's the type of comedy you can expect here. But, again, I also liked that the movie focuses on actually trying to help these people overcome their manias. There's one funny bit with Lili, who repeats everything she says, goes on this long speech and you believe that she's finally conquered her mania. But, of course, once the speech ends she starts the speech all over again and repeats it verbatim. The twist is also a little predictable, but it wasn't really so much of an issue when I had as much as I had with this movie. This is obviously one of those movies where you're not really meant to think a lot, but they definitely reward you for that shutting off of your brain. I don't really know what else to say about this movie, quite frankly. I'm not gonna say it's the second coming, but you really can't go wrong with a script this solid performed by actors of this caliber. Though, I'll be fair, this is one of those movies that will only really work for you if you know the language of Spanish. Spanish is my native tongue, even though I'm not from Spain, so it's obviously easier for me to get into it. I think someone who just speaks English, as an example, might not get the finer intricacies and beauty of the Spanish language. Of course, I'm not gonna associate any negative reviews of this movie as a result of the person not knowing the language, but I'm just trying to say that it definitely helps a lot, since a lot of the funnier scenes get lost in the translation. Having said that, however, I enjoyed this movie quite a bit and I would easily recommend it.
