Ozus' World Movie ReviewsDennis SchwartzMuseum piece slapstick comedy with the Keystone Kops and Charlie Chaplin that spoofs a gold-digger.
Parallax ViewSean Axmaker... it's very much a Keystone Komedy: the same simple visual style, the same pratfall gags, even the Keystone Kops pouring in for the finale...
User Reviewbrittany sCharlie Chaplin is amazing, I would love to see all his works. This one I especially love, it's funny and all around great!
User ReviewPrivate UWanna see Charlie Chaplin not playing the tramp, and being mean? I believe this is a pre-Tramp film. A delightful little silent that makes me glad.
User ReviewMorris NProof of Mack Sennett's brilliant comedic ability. And heart Mabel Normand.
User ReviewEeva HThis is a fun comedy movie; the first feature length comedy, with its just-about 75 minute runtime. This was Chaplin's last movie as just an actor. After this, Chaplin directed and wrote (or co-wrote) all the films he was in. Marie Dressler was hilarious in this picture, and she was also able to successfully transfer to sound movies, winning an Oscar in 1930 for her work in MIN AND BILL.
User ReviewJames HDelightful Charlie Chaplin film, very touching and funny. Charlie Chaplin is excellent, Marie Dressler is wonderful. Wonderful and unforgettable classic.
User ReviewSylvester KAlbeit old fashioned and laced with slapsticks, it was the first full length comedy film. Although a significant feature in the history of cinema, the humour was outdated. You can only see someone slipping, spilling and falling for so long.
User ReviewMike TThis film is sadly dated, but the onscreen presence of Chaplin is amazingly charismatic. Interesting look for film buffs.
