Movie Reviews

The Globe and Mail (Toronto) - 9/10 by John FitzgeraldThere's hardly a moment in Three Amigos that isn't silly--make that incredibly, outrageously and breathtakingly silly. Maybe that's why this tale of a trio of inept silent-movie stars turned real-life heroes is such a goofy delight. It's like a cross between a big-budget Three Stooges movie and a Hope-Crosby road picture, with dozens of old cowpoke gags thrown in to spice up the brew.
Reel Film Reviews - 8/10 by David NusairAs excessively silly as its premise would indicate...
The A.V. Club - 8/10 by Noel MurrayMartin’s script—co-written with SNL producer Lorne Michaels and songwriter Randy Newman—is full of inspired bits of comic business, such as Martin making a “lookuphere!” bird call to get his chums’ attention, Chase pouring water all over his face while his mates’ canteens are dry, and the Amigos summoning an invisible swordsman whom Chase accidentally shoots.
The New York Times - 6/10 by Janet MaslinThough Three Amigos is the kind of skin-deep contemporary comedy that assembles its stars and then just coasts, it's friendlier than most. And it contains a few elements that are destined for immortality.
Common Sense Media - 6/10 by David GurneySpoofy send up of Western films is OK for mature tweens.
Orlando Sentinel - 6/10 by Jay BoyarThe happy-go-lucky Three Amigos is a picture to see when your expectations are down and you've already been to everything that's good.
Miami Herald - 6/10 by Bill CosfordThree Amigos will never get any prizes for excitement or originality, but if there were an award for friendliness, this movie would at least be in the running.
Variety - 6/10 by Variety StaffA few choice morsels of brilliant humor can't save Three Amigos! from missing the whole enchilada.
Time Out - 6/10 by Geoff AndrewIf you enjoy brainless slapstick that allows space for irrelvant absurdities like a singing bush and an invisible swordsman, it's entertaining enough.
Bullz-Eye.com - 5/10 by Jason NewmanWhat may be unforgivable offenses in other films only bolsters Martin, Short and Chase, three comic geniuses who have made much more out of much less.
