Cinema CrazedFelix Vasquez Jr.A hilarious D grade horror comedy, and one that has a particular wit to it that compliments the schlocky horror and cheap scares...
User ReviewIan Ba frog alien thing that fucks chicks and kills dudes... nice. craig peck is one of the greatest jerks of all time in this movie. "nobody likes a mouth full of shaving cream"
User ReviewFilmGrinder SCult classic, still my favorite Rolfe Kanefsky film. Funny, funny stuff.
User ReviewJustin HI have a penchant for cheesy movies, and even I wasn't expecting much out of this. Imagine my surprise when, ludicrous as it is, this film actually ended up being enjoyable! Recommended if you've ever kicked back a weekend, laughing at terrible sci-fi flicks with friends.
User ReviewKato HFor those who thought the SCREAM films were so clever, I present this much more entertaining film that did the same premise roughly 5 years earlier. A group of high schoolers head to a cabin for Spring Break, but one of them is a horror movie expert and he begins to recognize warning signs that the group is entering into a horror movie. The group is obviously skeptical, but unbeknownst to them a carnivorous alien is stalking through the woods around the cabin. If that wasn't enough, this alien has more than murder on its mind. This film is clever and the dialogue is inspired. The low budget shows itself many times, but the alien is a really well-done creation. Like many low-budget productions it suffers from some amateurish acting, but if you can look past that you'll find this to be a lot more enjoyable than all three SCREAM films put together. Give it a shot.
User ReviewBloodmarsh KDeliciously postmodern horror film, paving the way for pictures like Scream and Grindhouse. Low production values and amateurish acting betray it for the student film that it is, and I think Mike would be more likeable if he had a bit more evidence to his paranoia around the beginning, but the spot-on parody and the incorporation of a highly visible boom mic into the plot more than make up for any flaws.
User ReviewMichael HMost comparable to THE EVIL DEAD, 'There's Nothing Out There' is a crazy, zany, and blood-soaked black comedy that's a must-see for horror fans.
User ReviewCarl MSomething sinister is loose in the woods, and if these teens hope to survive the night, they had better listen to their friend Mike, who knows all of the rules when it comes to surviving a Horror movie! Try as he may, Mike just can't seem to stop his friends from heading out into the woods alone or going skinny dipping in the lake, but he knows better than to investigate that strange noise in the bushes, himself! THERE'S NOTHING OUT THERE is a Horror movie that has been tailored specifically for Horror fans, and as redundant as that may sound, one's knowledge of the genre is sure to dictate their overall enjoyment of the film. Rolfe Kanefsky plays off of all the major Horror tropes with a sly, pointed sense of humor. The only downside is that the humor is presented in the most annoying form possible, through the obnoxious character of Mike. Mike becomes so overbearing that it's a wonder his own friend didn't kill him, first. The cheesy rubber monster and stereotypical teen characters only add to the high camp of the picture. THERE'S NOTHING OUT THERE has understandably earned itself a strong cult following over the years, and serves as an entertaining precursor to the SCREAM series.
User ReviewAl MA fun and funny creature horror comedy from Troma Studios, There's Nothing Out There dabbled in self-conscious horror long before Wes Craven's Scream. The film trots out and parodies most of the standard cliches of the genre and then features people being eaten by monstrous frog-like creatures. Fun for the whole family ;)
User ReviewJamie FThis is a funny horror/comedy in which the alien menace is thwarted by, of all things, shaving cream....
