| User ReviewTiggy BBeautiful, sensitive portrayal of the emotional development of young Rudolph Nureyev, whose defection to the West was made easier by the emotional hardship he endured as a child. Deeply moving portrayal of a young boy's discovery of a world where dance offered colour and release, and where battles were fought and won through sheer courage and determination. The White Crow is a gentler film to the frenzy of the brilliant Whiplash, but both movies have parallels, and those moments seen through the eyes of a delicate, sensitive and anguished little boy will stay with you for life. Abandoned to himself as a child, the beautiful ghost of his young self, dances in the shadows as a grown Nureyev is rescued by friends who love him, and propelled towards his future he has dreamed of. |
