Village VoiceElla TaylorCevin Soling's lively documentary lays out in hair-raising detail the authoritarian underpinnings of America's child-centered culture.
VarietyRonnie ScheibA startling wake-up call about appalling conditions prevailing in American schools, The War on Kids contradicts popular wisdom.
The New York TimesJeannette CatsoulisOffering neither balance nor solutions (a segment on the overuse of medications like Ritalin is especially powerful, but especially in need of counterargument), The War on Kids questions what kind of citizens we are producing.
Time OutNick SchagerIt’s a hysterical doc that’s a war on rational, levelheaded analysis.
User ReviewCecelia MThis is by far an eye opener to the way individuals view the school setting.
User ReviewRyan RA shocking exposé that draws -the well-deserved attention to the horrible corruption in the way that children are treated- that adults and children alike are taught to find frivolous.
User ReviewDaniel DThis is a hard-hitting condemnation of our failed school system (and our society which has perpetuated the failures of such). Any parent of school age children should watch this ... if not to convince themselves to homeschool their children, to at least give them the heads up on the tremendous problems within the system so that they are better able to deal with issues that may arise while their child is under the thumb of government authority in school.
User ReviewLaura SThis film should be mandatory viewing for all school administrators and teachers. It should be watched by teens and parents as well.
User ReviewJoanne JOutstanding documentary on many of the problems with the American school system! If only Michael Moore had Soling's skill set. This should be mandatory viewing for every Teacher, Principal and School Administrator - current, retired or prospective.
User Reviewdavid wIf you are a teacher, you are not gonna like this movie unless you can see the errors in the way that the school system really affects children in a negative way at the worst possible time. Nobody wants to fail a class or get held back, because the all wanna get done with school as quick a possible. Maybe we should make school more enjoyable, since a lot of kids now have bad parents. Just think about how stressed the homes are with economic issues, marital strife, poverty, single parents, etc.... Maybe school should be about education, fun, and adapting to other people and not just indoctrination into "The American Way"
