User ReviewJc SThe ending can be a tragedy but it leaves to you how you want it to end. All of us want a happy ending but for me this is just right, just don't kill David. The War Boys tells how it is to cross any border. Friendship, parent/s and child, love, land... Borders are everywhere around you,you just don't know what is waiting for you when you cross one. This film is so close to perfection. The acting is at par with the story, both great.
User Reviewfaust sThis was so much better than I expected it to be.
User ReviewJustin DJust watched it again. It's a great movie about what borders mean to us and what happens when our personal borders are crossed. People tend to list it as a "gay interest" film, but it tackles racism and immigration with a similarly deft hand. Highly recommended.
User ReviewIestyn WI downloaded this film - loved it. Nice to see Brian J Smith with his top off!
User ReviewJohn WWould have been five stars had it not ended in a cliffhanger.
User ReviewSarah .This movie had some surprises to it. There was one thing that Im sure I wouldnt have seen coming had I not specifically seen a spoiler about it prior to seeing the movie. It wasnt even HINTED at in the trailer. Anyways, it actually was pretty decent. I commend the people behind this movie because they took some risks. It was a story that I havent seen done a million times before either (or at least, i havent personally seen it a lot before). It was decent. My only serious complaint was that the ending frustrated me slightly because it actually ends without concluding! Im not exagerating! I swear there is so much of that these days I should make a book about how all these movies should have ended. Good Lord. Aside from that though, this was surprisingly not crap. What did this movie teach me? Just because you watch a trailer doesnt mean you cant be shocked by things in the film.
User ReviewKhaled MInteresting mix of different relationships
User ReviewKrzysztof RIt's an OK movie. I understand what they wanted to show in this movie, they could have been further with their ideas.
User ReviewHenry BI have mixed feelings about this movie. The story and characters have so much potential, but their true depth and dramatic richness is never given the time to surface. If this had been made into something longer like a mini-series, it would have been so much better. The story is still good, and it's refreshing to see so many oft-avoided subjects addressed all in one film. In the end, however, it falls short because it's too condensed. The War Boys could and should have been amazing.
User ReviewChris PI thoroughly enjoyed _most_ of "The War Boys". Despite some reviews that paint his performance in a less than positive light, I thought that Peter Gallagher hit a home run with his portrayal of David's stern and overbearing Father. Walker and Smith actually had phenomenal chemistry both as friends (SPOILER ALERT) and ultimately as lovers. The interactions between the two; the mannerisms and intense eye contact is all just so believable. Honestly, Walker's facial expressions alone could have won me over! It is clear that all three of these actors are very, very talented and they did a great job in this film. I wasn't super impressed with Victor Rasuk's acting (SPOILER ALERT) until close to the end when he discovered what was in the truck. Through the rest of the film, he seemed either held back by the script or just incompatible with the character. Micaela Nevárez, however, did an amazing job! The direction and cinematography were both quite good. The writing was decent, up until the ending. The ending was premature. There's just no getting around it. It was like the production team ran out of money and had to close up shop early or some kind of sequel was intended. All it really needed was 10-20 more minutes and they could have neatly wrapped it up and put a bow on it. That is the sole reason for the three star rating from me. Without the disappointingly abrupt ending, this would have been an easy four. 3/5 stars
