Total FilmEllen E JonesInstead of an exciting big-screen debut, this feels like a Cold Feet episode, written by a fan of Brief Encounter. Duff deserves a bigger challenge.
Film4Ian WintertonIf you want a good, thought-provoking wallow in the happy/sad soup of life, this is a tear-jerking gem.
Time OutDave CalhounOffers mild, easy pleasures, even if it stalks emotional truths rather than pierces them.
Empire MagazineAnna SmithWith its emphasis on love at first sight, the central romance is contrived, but the excellent cast do engage.

User ReviewCrystal BHighly Enjoyable Romantic Drama that explores love and relationships in a very British setting. Solid.
User ReviewColleen WInteresting philosophical concepts around 'love at first sight' and taking stock, are we being true within ourselves?
User ReviewMichael TIn a movie like this, people usually miss the parent-child love stories. While it's not shown, Anna seems to realize that she has let her negative feelings about Toby disrupt the father-child bond. She rectifies that, just as she rectifies her betrayal of her friend, Jem. Meanwhile, George has gone off the rails, and that includes being an increasingly distant father and husband. That, too, is fixed. So, while the love-at-first-site story seems to be important, it is really not. The only thing that bothered me about the film was that the "hero" (Stephen) is unfair and distant to Fiona, and why should we feel that he will be any more understanding or communicative with Anna??
User ReviewPrivate UA really sweet film. Didn't really want to see Ralf Little's knackers though. Mind you, I can see why he likes to parade around naked, he's not little! Boom boom.
User ReviewMatt DWhy can't all British films be like this? Little seen on its cinema release this charming little comedy drama has two great central performances from the always reliable Anne-Marie Duff and Ralf Little who proves that his acting goes beyond crappy BBC3 sitcoms. The script gives a brilliant portrayal of two lost souls who are both trapped in very different relationships which are going nowhere fast. There are also great supporting performances from Rupert Graves as well as veterans Frank FInlay and Phyllida Law. Overall a great British romance that deserves to be scene and may find a home on DVD.
