Movie Reviews

AV Club - 9/10 by Alison WillmoreEven in an old T-shirt and scruff of beard, Hall seems too canny and calculated a presence to entirely inhabit this man-child role, which lends a compelling edge to an otherwise scattershot story of urban misadventure and coming of age.
New York Times - 9/10 by Stephen HoldenNobody in this sweet-natured, low-testosterone trifle is out for blood. Mr. Hall gives an agreeable portrayal of a man-child not unlike David Fisher, his character on "Six Feet Under."
ColeSmithey.com - 8/10 by Cole SmitheyLess than the comic sum of its sardonic parts "The Trouble With Bliss" is a triviality.
Monsters and Critics - 8/10 by Ron WilkinsonPacks a lot of Lower East Side quirkiness into 97 minutes. Maybe too much.
We Got This Covered - 8/10 by Karen BenardelloThe Trouble With Bliss intriguingly showcases the numerous struggles people face as they reflect on their life paths.
Moveable Fest - 8/10 by Stephen SaitoUltimately, "The Trouble With Bliss" is a more positive way to use one's time than Morris is spending his.
Filmcritic.com - 6/10 by Jules BrennerThe trouble is they keep trying to make movies about it.
Compuserve - 6/10 by Harvey S. KartenMichael Knowles directs with all the complexity of a TV sitcom.
Arizona Republic - 5/10 by Bill GoodykoontzThe film is not without charm, much of it provided by Larson as the sneakily demanding Brie. Liu is also funny and vaguely dangerous, while Henke is an agreeable presence. As for Hall, he's not asked to do much more than mope.
Village Voice - 4/10 by Eric HynesThe tiredness of its conceit aside, the film manages to ingratiate thanks to a script that pleasantly ping-pongs from one digressive dialogue to another and a persuasive performance by Hall.
