Antagony & EcstasyTim BraytonAn excellent conclusion to the [AIP Poe] cycle, and a fine achievement of penny-pinching filmmaking of the sort that Corman did better than anyone else.
Not Coming to a Theater Near YouMichael NordineTo have one's pulse race when turning the pages of "Ligeia" - or, indeed, while watching Corman's film - isn't merely to fall into Poe's literary trap, it's to somehow be in communion with the dead author.
Movie ChambersPaul ChambersAnother film based on the writings of Edgar Allan Poe and directed by Roger Corman. The least effective of the ten Poe films. It often drags and Price seems miscast.
User ReviewBrandy MThis movie is based on Edgar Allan Poe's short story "Ligeia," which, if you have never read, is absolutely exquisite. (Poe's description of Ligeia leaves the reader in wonder as to whether such an ethereal beauty could ever have existed in reality). While Corman does stray from Poe's original story, he manages to stay true to the haunting atmosphere of the tale. Once again, Vincent Price renders a wonderful performance as the tortured Verden Fell. Of Corman's film adaptations of Poe's works, this is one of my favourites. It is as eerily memorable as the original story.
User ReviewEmile HRoger Corman's last take on a Poe story is surprisingly its most persuasive. It makes the most out of its location by boasting some great atmosphere in both its shots of the English countryside and the gothic castle inside. Plus some great performances from the lead stars Vincent Price and Elizabeth Shepard. It is a great adaptation of the short story with some actual haunts. The film takes a gradual turn into horror, and for a small budget it looks good doing so.

User ReviewCraig BRoger Corman out does himself again. Another loose adaptation of Edger Allen Poe's work, despite that it is a beautiful and often creepy take on the story. Vincent PRice is still the king.
User ReviewSammie GirlAnother one of my favorite Corman/Price/Poe films. Very well done
User ReviewDan GThe most stylish and best looking of the Vincent Price / Roger Corman / Edgar Allan Poe - movies. I love the overdramatic dialogue and Vincent looks great in this movie. One of the best Gothic horror movies ever.
