User Review - 10/10 by Greg WSun Comes Up is a cute film. It is about a bereaved war widow who learns to to put aside her bitterness and grief as she grows to love a young orphan boy and the dog that belonged to her late son. Jeanette MacDonald and Lloyd Nolan give excellent performances. The screenplay is well written. Richard Thorpe did a great job directing this movie. I enjoyed watching this motion picture because of the humor and the drama. Sun Comes Up is a must see.
User Review - 6/10 by Michael TEventually, almost every star at MGM appeared in a musical, and Lassie was no exception; here, she shares screen time with Jeanette MacDonald (in her last film appearance). Lassie doesn't sing, but Jeanette does.
