Charles Dexter Ward's wife enlists the help of a private detective to find out what her husband is up to in a remote cabin owned by his family for centuries. The husband is a chemical engineer, and the smells from his experiments (and the delivery of what appear to be human remains at all hours) are beginning to arouse the attention of neighbors and local law enforcement officials. When the detective and wife find a diary of the husband's ancestor from 1771, and reports of gruesome murders in the area begin to surface, they begin to suspect that some very unnatural experiments are being conducted in the old house. Based on an H.P. Lovecraft story.

Movie Reviews

MovieMartyr.com - 6/10 by Jeremy HeilmanAn assured but sadly neglected independent horror film.
DVDTalk.com - 5/10 by Scott WeinbergThe thrills, chills, and intermittent gore-spills are way too few and far between to keep the loyal horrorheads from getting restless.
User Review - 10/10 by Brian KThis is possibly the finest film adaptation of a Lovecraft story I have thus far seen.
User Review - 10/10 by Dean MAn excellent HP Lovecraft film, much overlooked
User Review - 10/10 by tp bAn excellent modern day adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft's novella "The Case of Charles Dexter Ward".
User Review - 8/10 by TTT C(***): Thumbs Up I had fun with this one. It had some creepy moments that really kept me interested.
User Review - 8/10 by Dan BA mostly faithful retelling of my favorite Lovecraft story. If you have something against reading, watching this solid horror film would be an acceptable alternative. Also, it stars Jack's dad from Lost ;)
User Review - 8/10 by Al MThe Resurrected is a surprisingly faithful and entertaining adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft's novella "The Strange Case of Charles Dexter Ward." While The Resurrected undoubtedly feels cheesy at times, it stays faithful to Lovecraft's story and consequently manages to be a genuine piece of cinematic strangeness.
User Review - 8/10 by Christopher Kgreat addaption of hp lovecrafts "the disaperance of charles dexter ward"
¿Quién no conoce a John Terry y Jane Sibbett? EN TRES (3) PALABRAS: ¡Serie B power!
