The tale opens with a marriage after which, as was the custom, the guests play games in and out of the ruins of the old castle. The bride, seeking some hiding place, wanders away alone and finally through a massive door which clicks shut behind her. She looks around her terrified and sees, clothed in garments like her own, a skeleton! She tries to escape but in vain.
