The Local follows Noname, an enigmatic man running from a tortured past. He is trapped in a violent Brooklyn underworld as the lowly drug runner for a gang of crazed veterans. There, Noname is approached by a wealthy out-of-towner who offers him a large sum of money to "rescue" the man's heroin-addicted daughter from his employer's drug lair. Noname soon realizes that saving the girl is more than a payday. It will grant him a way out of his purgatory after a lifetime of wrong... (Full plot summary below)

| User Reviewmike hOh my God I just watched what is easily the best movie of 09. I had no idea the film I was watching was written, directed, and produced by the main guy in the film. I haven`t gotten a rush like this since The Departed. Move over Tarantino, out of the way Ritchie, look out Scorsese. I can`t believe I am writing the first review of this film. What are you people watching out there. This guy deserves to be nominated for a bunch of Oscars. Why isn`t Hollywood throwing money at this guy too make more movies, that I can watch. How come Dan`s not in France getting the Palme d`Or already. This is a great example of film making at its finest. Its amazing and you have to watch it. The Local will make you go Local. | User ReviewMichael TEasily one of the best action films I have seen in years. Appears to be hate it or love it type of movie. Some reviewers have given this flick, in my opinion, an unjustifiably low rating. This is in your face reality, violence, Brooklyn unsugerred thriller. Not something suitable for general audience that seeks their action thrills in movies like the Avengers, Spider-man or the Expendables, but if you are into low budget art films that rely more on acting and plot, this could be a great source of entertainment for you. |

| User ReviewPete BThis is perhaps my favorite crime film ever... The story is about a new to town guys troubles with debts drug users and addiction. The most convincing portrait of the saddness and turmoil that this would cause. The scene that really got me was the part where he crashes in his small room of stress and total exaustion. Note the details of his bed on the floor. I've lived and seen rooms like this many times and this is how it looks really not like the hollywood glam crime drug films. |
| User ReviewDavid DDan Eberle plays the good guy having to do bad things to survive. You cannot help but want him to live and find a better life. Finally he has a chance to save a girl and get her back to her father. To do so he must do more bad things. I kept thinking that Dan would be a great choice for a new Billy Jack film. Rumor was that a script was in the making a coupe years ago. On the down side: Way too much swearing and tough-guy machismo from some of the other characters. The F bombs just start to become tiresome. Dan E. pulls this film out of the quagmire by his character. Great job Dan. dd |

While watching this, I was thinking man this guy really looks like another version of Micky Rourke, and the funny thing is, during the film, one of the actors says almost the exact same thing about him, which really made me laugh. |
