Movie Reviews

San Francisco Chronicle - 8/10 by Mick LaSalleIt’s a satisfying drama that inverts the usual way of building interest and suspense. Instead of wondering what’s going to happen, we sit with the knowledge and wait for every character to react to what we already know.
Film Journal International - 8/10 by Maitland McDonaghDramatic recreation of the night John Lennon was murdered matter-of-factly recalls a dirtier, less tourist-friendly New York City and an era when bad news was no surprise.
Village Voice - 6/10 by Rob StaegerThe Lennon Report loses some steam in its second half as the immediacy of the operating theater dissipates in press conferences and obituary voiceovers. Even so, Profe does an admirable job walking us through the day's events, weaving together the accounts of people on the scene.
Los Angeles Times - 3/10 by Michael RechtshaffenDespite the admittedly unique angle, this ambitious drama gets crushed under the considerable weight of its artistic, as well as budgetary, limitations.
User Review - 10/10 by Michele RThe Lennon Report is a fast-paced and emotionally charged movie about the night John Lennon was killed. The stellar cast delivers great performances that give insight into the emotional impact Lennon's death had on those who tried to save him. Just when you thought you knew everything about that night 36 years ago, the movie has an interesting twist that will leave you questioning accuracy in reporting.
User Review - 10/10 by Rocky FThe lennon report is a captivating and emotional film.
User Review - 10/10 by Michelle KThis is a great film. The events of the night are told through the eyes of the law enforcement, journalists, and hospital workers which gives a unique angle at what happened that night. It was extremely informative especially since I was not alive during that time. I have wondered about that night for years when overhearing conversations about it and am now finally able to relate to what happened that night. Drama, funny at times, engaging, excellent! See it for history and entertainment.
User Review - 10/10 by Natalie RThe Lennon Report was both interesting and compelling as it gives more insight into the events that occurred during John Lennon's death, and just how it impacted the people there in the moment of the tragedy. Alan Weiss character played by Walter Vincent is at times both hated and admired, showcasing a journalists need to get the story and how they develop emotionally and on a personal level from certain events that are inexplicable and U fathomable. While as an audience member you feel the pain of this deeply talented stars death, you can also relate to the journalists determination to tell the story so that the people who loved John Lennon and have followed his life have a right to know how the story of his death occured. From the doctors pain of losing his patient, to Johns wife, Yoko Ono, and her worst nightmare come true, the movie delivers wholeheartedly from an HONEST portrayal.
User Review - 8/10 by Christopher THaving been born after these events, I had little knowledge of what happened that nite. This film is beautifully crafted and the actors all give brilliant performances, particularly Richard Kind and his scenes interacting with fellow cast member, Gloria Mann. Their interaction as Dr Lynn and Sandra Shohen trying to decide how to negotiate Lennon's death with the media was poignant and raw. Karen Tsen Lee as Yoko Ono was dignified and heartbreaking and Rick Crom as Howard Cosell was also a standout. I highly recommend the film.
User Review - 8/10 by Michael CSensitive immersion in a painful night that seared a generation. Newcomer Walter Vincent is terrific! Loved the scene with Richard Kind and Gloria Mann. Devin Ratray was a much appreciated comic relief. But Karen Tsen Lee playing the grieving Yoko Ono stole the show.
