User ReviewRobert G'A gritty and haunting morality tale, a masterfully sketched portrait of religious faith, human guilt and what divides men from beasts.' Inside Film Magazine
User ReviewJenn TJust watched this. Pretty disturbing but an amazing piece of history. A story of a struggle for survival against unfathomable misfortunes. A grim reminder of our own mortality.
User ReviewMatty DVery good movie, pretty short but that's not a problem. It's not very disturbing until you think of it that the meat is human and that the story really happened. Good actors, too
User ReviewLee MAwesome film. An important light thrown onto Australia's dark underbelly.
User ReviewJasminka G29/12/2008 Just watched the movie. Felt a bit sick after it, and am afraid I will have nightmares tonight as it is quite gruesome, sad and cruel ... It is fascinating though.
User ReviewStephanie L"A Full Belly is prerequisite to all manner of good. Without that, no man knows, what hunger will make him do. " This very pretty movie about a nasty brutal subject, makes a good argument for social programs. Best scene - priest having dinner with the snotty British jailers.
User ReviewTravis SThis movie follows the final days of Irish convict Alenander Pearce's life who escaped from prison not once but twice now as he awaits execution he decides to tell his final story. The year is 1824 and the british penal colony on Van Diemen's land is little more then a living hell chained to a wall in the darkness of his cell Pearce is visited by Father Connolly priest of the colony and a fellow irishman little does Connolly know that the confession he is about to hear is shocking an about how one survived hell on earth by doing the unthinkable. I can fully recommend this movie there isnt too much here as the film clocks in at alittle over a hour but the story thats told will hold most peoples attention as its both compelling and interesting and just goes to show what lengths someone would go to escape the tortures of prison
User ReviewWilliam SVery nice 1 hour treatise on humanity, survival and judgment. It told the story, the acting + filmmaking were great, and, in a way, a wake for the dead who ate and suffered.
User ReviewPatrick Edisturbing... but you just never know what you're capable of when the poop hits the fan!
User ReviewSophie PI had an interest in this story before seeing the movie. The movie varies, it has some very good bits, but also some rather boring bits. It definitely does manage to make you think about issues of morality and if it is something most people would resort to, but we'll never know purely cause most people aren't put in those sorts of situations.
