Filmcritic.comDon WillmottHere's a three-word phrase that'll get any film critic's blood pumping: "Starring Bai Ling."
User ReviewToby EAwesome Cyberpunk flick, if your into cool Sci-Fi with some martial arts check it out, make your own opinion!!!
User ReviewAleksandar JThis movie has it all: Crap acting, an overpacked storyline, Bai Ling, fetish clothing, Andy Laplegua and Ronan Harris, "oh no! you killed my brother!", dwarves, guns, chinese paper lanterns, blood splashing on the camera lens whenever Adobe After Effects can no longer take all the action and tonnes of scrap metal. This was epic!
User ReviewAndrew SFuture world, cyberpunk, hot asian women, guns, good soundtrack, awesome fight scenes. This movie is fucking amazing.
User ReviewMatthew AKiller Cyberpunk movie. Great story, great stunts, beautiful CGI by most favoite director in the world
User ReviewJohn TThis looked a lot better than I thought it would. I thought it would be a cheap indie sci-fi. However, the cinematography was awesome. There was a lot of cg, but the cg looked really good. It's about people in the future who are able to modify people's dna and turn them into mutant like creatures, but also cure diseases ext. Assassins are sent to kill people who restructure others' dna (dna hackers). It's pretty cool. They have a whole class system and all. Very awesome futuristic-shithole scenarios. The girl is a bad ass. The acting isn't great, but it could be worse. The end wasn't great. It was a bit on the weak side, but up until then I really enjoyed the movie. cyber-punk..
User Reviewbryan wGreat Cyberpunk flick..... fans of this genre will love it.
User ReviewTroy KThe Gene Generation was dark, bleak, but a very good futuristic action film with cracking good performances from Bai Ling & Waterloo Road's Alec Newman.
User Reviewmike dThey must have spent so much money on special effects that they forgot to hire actors and a script writer. Scifi fun, but don't expect much.
User ReviewBobby LI have to admit that I agree with most reviews on this film; it's nothing to write home about, yet on the other hand it's not really that bad either and I can honestly say that I have seen much, much worse. Its problem lies where all films' problems lie and that's with the script. It's absolutely inane, absurd and makes virtually no sense at all even within the world it attempts to create. The actors seem to be working with what they are given but there's only so much they can accomplish with this tripe. Bai Ling does her best--she fills out her sexy costume and strips down for a couple of nude scenes, and Parry Shen (best known for his brilliant performance in BETTER LUCK TOMORROW) gives his all trying to make his role of the troublesome younger brother interesting. In the end however, everyone is defeated by director Pearry Teo's adaptation of his own comicbook. You'd think that with this much control over the end product Teo would have been able to produce more than this confused and confusing flick that serves only to make the viewer wish they were watching BLADERUNNER.
