Movie Reviews

The Globe and Mail (Toronto) - 8/10 by Jay ScottA sly, self-mocking sense of humor is apparent even in Robocop 2's title, which identifies both the film's sequel status and its hero. And what a fantastic nightmare creation Robocop 2 is.
Cinema Crazed - 7/10 by Felix Vasquez Jr.A weak and utterly uneven follow-up, but at least presents some unique ideas about RoboCop and his world.
Miami Herald - 6/10 by Bill CosfordThis ultraviolent, nihilistic sequel has enough technical dazzle to impress hardware fans, but obviously no one in the Orion front office told filmmakers that less is more.
Washington Post - 6/10 by Desson ThomsonEverything in the first movie is pretty much redone again. But in this case, the repetition isn't a bad thing. It's par for the coarse. The original had such effortless, classic-trashy appeal, there's little reason to buck the self-made system. It works. It can continue. It does continue.
Tampa Bay Times - 6/10 by Hal LipperI didn't much like RoboCop 2 (the use of that killer child is beneath contempt), but I've gotta hand it to them: It's strange how funny it is, for a movie so bad. Or how bad, for a movie so funny.
BrianOrndorf.com - 6/10 by Brian OrndorfI'll maintain that RoboCop 2 is a worthy sequel, though with every fresh viewing I see more of its faults and scatterbrained structure.
Juicy Cerebellum - 5/10 by Alex SandellFairly crummy sequel with a few redeeming action sequences.
Los Angeles Times - 5/10 by Peter RainerNastiness in a movie can sometimes be liberating and fun, but the nastiness in RoboCop 2 is no more authentic than its heart.
Boston Globe - 5/10 by Jay CarrIf you like to stagger away from a film feeling numb and slightly sick, this one's for you.
Movie Metropolis - 5/10 by John J. Puccio...the film forsakes most of its progenitor's lighthearted yet moving emotional appeal and replaces it with gunfire, car chases, and explosions.
